I never had this issue until Pregnancy started .. initially I thought it will get better without the need for any medication. Just focused more on Isabgol and drinking loads of water ..
but then midway pregnancy , my Iron levels dropped below 6 and that put me in a frenzy and I was asked to take Iron tablets 3 times a day. Which made constipation even worse.
Now I am at a point that I dont think I can handle the problem peacefully anymore. I am specially fearful of getting Piles since my MIL got it after her first pregnancy as well and has told me enough scary stories . The GP constantly refuses to give me medication. Are there any natural totka’s I can do to reduce constipation?
does this problem persist even after pregnancy? or does it get better ?
My ob recommended I take a tablespoon of ispaghol, mix in half-3/4th glass water at room temp or slightly Luke warm, leave for 5-7 mins, drink it first thing after waking up. Did for the last 2 months and also continued for a while after baby was born. I swear by it, no problems whatsoever
Ask them the tab for iron that u can take ones a day...it has the same amount in it like the ones u can have 3 times a day...
Try havin lactacid tea... (herbal ones...just a quick drop in ur hot water) and i think 1 or 2 sips r more than enough to do the magic... Will post pics tonight if i can find mine :)
i would constipation in pregnancy too cuz of the triple dose iron i had to take to combat aneamia.. prunes... your best friend...
i couldnt be bothered for slow torture by eating prunes (god its devils food). so i would just drink a glass of prune juice everyday... first thing in the morning cuz i could handle it.. (i know some women throw up if they drink too much lqiud in the morning when pregnant).. kher... it worked wonders for constipation and my iron levels... (brought it up).
I am also facing problem of constipation and tht is because my fluid intake is too low due to nausea. I drink more and I throw up. Eating bananas help me sometimes.
Eating an apple every morning helped me...i used to eat while preparing breakfast....n vegetable soups are also very helpful....Make sure you drink atleast six glasses of water...i think you are in last trimester n it was really hard for me to drink one glass at a time so take half a glass of water each time....
Fresh apple juice along with the skin and dont strain it. The pectin in the apple makes it easy on the stomach. My MIL used to give me a a small spoon of desi ghee the first thing in the morning. It was yucky, but then that is supposed to be a desi thing to avoid constipation.
diwana: when was the last time you were pregnant again?
ya.. thought so :p
the triple iron is CUZ food isnt giving one enough iron. you DO know most women cant handle red meat when pregnant right?
pregnant huay hothay.. ya actually.. shaadi shuda.. or more than that.. a woman... tho patha hotha na .. double :p
LOL
One does not have to be pregnant to know the needs, pain and sufferings of pregnant women. :( :p
I only meant to take lesser pills but did not say no pills. Also the red meat is a very good source of iron if one can eat it. I said "if you can". Double :p
P.S. I know those women who only took Folic acid tabs with multivitamins with balanced regular diet and had very healthy pregnancy and children.
For the very same reason, I was put on liquid form of iron.. Floradix.. its non constipating and was recommended by the midwife since I ended up twice in the hospital after being constipated for almost two weeks!!
I didnt have the one with the herb but at least you can check that with your doc regarding this!
Thanks Khawa .. I am now praying and praying that I like the taste of it and enjoy it like a luxury drink too .. but it cant be that bad that you had to hold your nose to gulp it down? or was it?
think we will find out after I give it a shot :hinna:
an apple a day........
I did this for the last 3 months of the pregnancy......was never constipated at all.....not even one Ah.
The other benefit was that my child ended up crazy about apples!!! She still loves 'em.
