I am going deaf. No doubt it. I listen to music very loud and my ears ring for a long period afterward. Aside from listening to music at a lower volume, is there some way to reverse the damage?
Re: Deaf, malheureusement
Candle waxing for your ears apparently does wonders for your hearing.
Re: Deaf, malheureusement
I have had oil poured into my ears, but candle wax? How does that work?
Re: Deaf, malheureusement
I'm not sure how exactly it works, but it's something that has apparently been practiced for thousands of years.
Basically, a hollow candle is placed around your ear and the candle is lit up with a flame at the top. The heat somehow enables the wax within your ears to fill up the hollow space within the candle. (others, correct me if I am wrong) I have never done it myself but apparently it works wonders. I will be getting it done soon by an aesthetician friend of mine who has been doing this on clients for a while. I'll let you know how it goes if I am brave enough to actually go through with it!
The other option is having your ears flushed by a doctor. Again, I've never had it done myself, but apparently, hot liquid (water) is put into your ears and it flushes out the build up of wax, allowing you to hear better afterwards.
Re: Deaf, malheureusement
From another site:
Ear Candles Hollow candles are used to clean the ears and are believed to help with various ear disorders. When using candles, the small end of the cone is put in the ear and the other end is lit. As the cone burns, the smoke travels into the ear canal warming the ear wax and creating a gentle vacuum. This can dislodge the wax or foreign debris and pull it into the candle. Many report this as being a rather pleasant sensation. Ears should not get water in them or be exposed to very loud noises for 24 hours after treatment.

SARAHSPLENDOR: one! do NOT put oil in your ears. i had an aunt who one day went deaf after pouring hot oil in her ear!
and your screenname reminds me of splenda which reminds me of coffee :(
Re: Deaf, malheureusement
Better stop listening to music on loud volume Sarah. I have a family member who is suffering from tinnitus at a very young age along with hear loss - it is no joke, as there is no cure for it. Google 'tinnitus' - very scary.
Re: Deaf, malheureusement
Heuresement your hearing will come back after a month or so unless it is hopelessly damaged.
Re: Deaf, malheureusement

Re: Deaf, malheureusement
I’ve gone through some treatment but not sure if they sprayed water or that powerful electronic device they used was to suck whatever there was inside my ears. For a few minutes, I was screaming cz the sound was so loud like my ears were gonna burst but when he finished, I felt soooo good. It was like coming into a new world cz everything sounded so clear and smooth.
But I dont know the name of the treatment cz I was only 9 years old. All I can remember is that my mom told me they were gonna get rid of the pain in my ears (which I used to experience).
Re: Deaf, malheureusement
