Under the Soviet Union, from 1917 to 1953, millions of Russians died at the hands of revolution, civil war, famine, forced resettlement and other crimes. One man can take most of the blame: Joseph Stalin. His desire to build a new and better country at any cost – and to keep hold of the power he had gained – was a direct cause of the majority of casualties under Soviet rule. It is hard to fathom how, in 1948, he was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize

Re: Deadliest World Events In Human History

They didn't target any religion. They were people of desert behind destruction of settled areas and nearby areas were Muslim majority countries, who were weak target due to their internal wars

Re: Deadliest World Events In Human History

arab-israeli conflict (1920-present)... approximate death toll 91,000 arabs vs. 25,000 israelis (these numbers do not include the wounded or the 1000s of lives lost due to palestinian "terrorism" and intrafada (probably don't have extremely accurate numbers here either)

terror campaigns under stalin approximately 15-20 million lives (historians disagree on the exact number)

policies implemented under Mao Ze Dong (which resulted in a better china but at the cost of human lives) approximately 78 million
