Dead Sea Salt Scrubs

Anyone ever tried a dead sea salt scrub or product containing minerals from the dead sea? For those that dont know the dead sea in israel is highly concentrated with minerals and people swim in it to get rid of skin diseases such as eczema, psoriasis, itching etc. I found a retailer selling dead sea salts and I want to make a homemade scrub by mixing it with essential oil of lavendar as I have very dry and sensitive skin. Anyone have experiences using a sea salt scrub mixed with oil? was it benefical?

Re: Dead Sea Salt Scrubs

my brother has....i dunno how or why he would....but i remember him telling us a while back that how it was the best thing ever and the guy who sold it to him explained how the scrub totally removes the dead skin and allows the moisturizer to penetrate better into the skin....hence silky smooth skin :-)

Re: Dead Sea Salt Scrubs

ive used this nail-care product which is somehow dead-sea related... i got it from this guy at this cart in king of prussia mall last yr.. it came with a hand lotion/ a buffer/ a nail filer and a cuticle oil.. i absolutely loved it!

the buffer's really neat.. n the hand lotion's very good too. i ws running out on it n fortunately it's available here in sauga too.. so i wanted to get just the lotion.. but u know how they smooth talk u into spending a lil bit more n getting the whole pack.... n well i got smooth talked :)

Re: Dead Sea Salt Scrubs

sea salts mixed with oil help keep the skin moisturised. If you just use it liberally over damp skin and scrub ur skin well followed by a quick rinse and just patting ur skin dry with a towel later you will notice that ur skin doesn't dry up. If you follow it up with a body moisturiser its even better.

Re: Dead Sea Salt Scrubs

I've not used the product that you are referring to specifically, but I've tried this thing that I think is called the "One Minute Miracle".

It's grains of sand/nutshells/some other stuff, mixed in an oil base. You take a few drops of it and rub it on your hands for a minute. The you rise off with some warm water and your skin just feels amazing after.

The concept is the same. Whether or not the dead sea salt is better, I'll have to try and then comment.

Re: Dead Sea Salt Scrubs

I haven't used the salt scrub but I used a Dead Sea facial mask that my sister bought in Jordan. It is amazing and clears up acne.

Re: Dead Sea Salt Scrubs

Shweetdreamz, I read all kinds of stuff about how helpful dead sea salts are for our skin and how it cures so many skin issues. I too would like to try this, the only problem is there are so many sources that are selling products containing dead sea minerals, how will we ever know if it's the "real" stuff? Have you heard of a good reputable brand selling it? If you find out please post it here because I would really like to try this stuff.

Re: Dead Sea Salt Scrubs

Okay I tried to send a private msg to you but it says that your box is full so I will just type it here:

I tried the dead sea salt scrub and it is absolutely amazing!! I have what ppl call "chicken skin" on the back of my arms and with just one use it has smoothed out a lot! I got it from a kiosk in the mall and I got a round tub thing of the salt for the body, a tube of facial scrub and a tube of lotion. It ran me about $80 which I guess isn't too too bad?!

Re: Dead Sea Salt Scrubs

I wouldnt use it on the face, but they are awesome for the body, I use Dermalogicas mixed with cooking Olive Oil.
They donot dissolve in oil so have to be a bit tricky in applying the mixture to the skin but afterwards the skin feels good.

Shouldnt use it more than once a month though.

Re: Dead Sea Salt Scrubs

hey saadia im so sorry about replying so late. i ordered from this company www.saltworks.us. i got the bokek dead sea salts (finer ground) i mixed it with some olive oil and used it as a scrub. my skin felt SO good afterwards (no irritation like i get with using soap) BUT one day later i broke out because of the olive oil. i should have known better. i think im just allergic to it. im going to try mixing it with lavendar oil because thats what suits me more. we have those mall kiosks selling scrubs here too and im going to check their ready-made body scrubs too.

thanks for the input guys.
