Can anyone tell me the name of a track by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, which featured in the beginning of this film. Kick ass film with an even better song. I know it’s a pretty old film so it’s probably testing your memories a bit. He sang it with this American guy and it was simply breathtaking. That’s all I can tell u I’m afraid. In case u can’t recall the film, it starred Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn. He was an inmate on death row and she was a nun. Kuch yaad aya ???
Also, already asked this one once without any decent response. During the late 80s/early 90s this guy called Guru Josh (I think) released this saxophone filled dance tune. I really want to know what it was called and if its available on Napster/elsewhere.
Sobz, see if you were to hang around right kinda bookshops, you would know that all you have to do is go to amazon.com or some other cd sale place and search for the soundtrack... but no, you won't listen to me.
Do I look like the sort of girl who's got time on her hands - I think not.
And I've had loadsa bad experiences with Amazon - (word of warning guppies: never buy ur books from them !!!!) so they're the last place I'd go.
I've actually asked about Guru Josh in like 3 different stores but everyone just looked at me as though i was a loony so i thought i'd try my luck here.
Ali Beta, Cheers mate - got it off Napster last night and been listening to nothing since !!! I’d never have guessed that guy was from Pearl Jam - aren’t Pearly Jam meant to be this big heavy metal American rock band ???
Oh My God Romaan (emphasis on the ‘aan’ bit - as in Nomaan, Paan, Dukaan etc etc etc)
U r such a first class twat.
Like hello, what’s my taste in men got to do with any of this. To answer ur question, there were plenty of white boys around but believe it or believe it not i wasn’t trying to pick any of them up at the time. I swear u pakis only ever have one thing on ur mind
If you enjoyed this one! there is another one, Face of love. This one is from "Dead man walking" too and another duet with the Great Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Eddie Vedder too.
As for Pearl Jam, I wouldnt call them heavy metal, they are a very versatile band stressing on rock. And there lyrics really make you think. Listen to BLACK.
As for Murat with other western Musicians, you have to listen to NFAKs work with Joane Osborne and nine inch nails.
My personal favorutie duets of Musrat Fateh Ali Khan are avtually where where performs with he performs with the London Symphony orchestra, the song is "tujh bin" and his work Peter Gabrial especailly his live performance with him on VH1 awards. A truely amazing performance.

ahem...ahem...pardon my ignorance but are u talking about the dvd for the movie alibeta?
~~I'm not going to ask if you just said what I think you just said because I know it's what you just said.~~DS
the track is one the most inspiring combinations i have ever came across… Eddie Vedder is the best singer in grunge rock and the band is one the creative bands on the earth!!! in my view they are and you ask why?
here it is when you listen to Pearl Jam every song is original and different from the others. Not only different notes different words but and i say but the whole feeling of the song… kinda like The Beatles, who were different in all their songs… moreover Eddie was said to be the icon of the x-generation only if he showed his face to the media… man Pearl Jam is the BEST BAND… you would say U2 but their new album SUCKS!!
no doubt Nirvana influences more than Pearl Jam but Grunge was defined by Neil Young and after him came Sound Garden & Pearl Jam they released a album called Temple Of the Dog in which both the bands played...
nirvana in my thoughts changed the grunge rock's image... how can you compare Teen Spirit, come as you are, whatever crap (dumb lyrics) with Black, Do the evolution, release, slieght of hand and all the other songs... man don't just listen to the power cord driven music of Nirvana... listen something with the feel...
these days some bands are making their way into the music scene by just damaging the look of music created by the earlier bands... look what limp bizkit has done to Rage Against the Machine...
today grunge can be seen clearly in Stone Temple Pilots, CREED and Days of the New. Others don't fall in this particular category.
and the eddie's vocal influence all the above bands...
I agree with Ark, no doubt Pearl JAm is one the greatest rock bands ever! Nirvana was ok but too bad Kurt is dead now and I really dont like what the other band memebe ris doing in Foo Fighters!
How can you say Kurt Cobain’s songs had no depth or feeling? Polly, Dumb, Lithium and many others bought tough subjects into the mainstream. Infact the Nirvana phenomenon was the voice of dissaffect youth so it was the lyrics as much as the music. Unfortunatley it caught up with him in the end. Pearl Jam failed to ignite the same interest.
That menacing growly voice too…wow still sounds powerful.
All ‘rock’ music can be traced to the Blues.
Like BB King sing’s " The Blues had a baby and they named it Rock n’ Roll!"
Sorry Sadi Sobi for diverging…maybe we should have started another thread..
Hey don’t worry Tinku, It’s not very often i come across desis listening to Rock - U go Boyz :hola: !!!
Paki-Crusty (Ur nicks 2 good) Yeh, Dead Man Walking is one of those films that u either love or hate. Whenever i watch it infront of my bros they constantly take the piss out of it as being a sissy film, but i reckon it rocks.
U’ve obviously got good taste
