'Dead behind the eyes'

I’ve often heard this comment, esp aimed at celebs (and esp very attractive women), is it just a catty thing or do some ppl really look dead behind the eyes? And if so how and who?

Re: 'Dead behind the eyes'

I haven't heard this comment in reference to celebrities, however I have come across it before. I think "dead behind the eyes" can mean lifeless, sad eyes....the kind of expression when your in pain/depressed. And I think the expression can also refer to someone who lacks substance. It's not neccessary that it be said with catty intentions...it could just be a person's feelings/observations about a another individual (celebrity or otherwise).

What comes to mind (for me) is Kareena. I think that in spite of the lively makeup/smiling, etc........she seems to lack substance...especially when I recall her appearance with Saif on the show, Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? She appeared shallow...and like she didn't have much general knowledge.

Re: ‘Dead behind the eyes’

Maybe it means something like theyre lacking that twinkle in the eye that makes them charming and more human?

Re: 'Dead behind the eyes'

a dumb attractive woman?

Re: 'Dead behind the eyes'

That's what I'm thinking. Dumb, shallow, lacking substance. Having a superfecial charm but not one of more depth.

Re: ‘Dead behind the eyes’

LIFE1 is a nice place for decodeing of ‘complements’ now..i likes :hehe:

Too bad nobody compliments me or i would have got it deciphered here…

.

Re: ‘Dead behind the eyes’

Decipher karne ki koshish tab ki jaati hai…when the compliment is worded in a broad way that can open to more than one interpretation.

Tumhari dafa…they will be so direct that you won’t need the decoding. :chai:

Re: 'Dead behind the eyes'

I've seen this being said about Britney Spears a few times on another forum.

Re: 'Dead behind the eyes'

I think it could just mean lack of substance, personality or character.

Some people rely on their looks to carry them so much, they never feel the need to develop other aspects of their person.

So aside from their looks, there really isn't much to them.

Re: 'Dead behind the eyes'

Of course ppl do make assumptions on a person's appearance but you couldn't honestly judge a person's character from just a magazine article and a few photos, could you.. that's what makes it seem catty to me..

Have come across the phrase a lot in regards to ppl like Katherine Jenkins, Cheryl Cole, Amy Childs etc. To me it seems to be aimed more at women who look ultra glam or high maintenance..

Women like SJP, Chloe Sevigny etc never get called it..
