Back to my orginal question, why was Tami fired?
[/QUOTE]
Does any American know, or are they waiting for a call from Bush to tell them first? When he contacts them maybe they can ask him about that WMD thing as well?

You must be looking in the mirror.....
I am very satisfied coz I know whats the outcome of terrorist invader scums... It has happened several times in the past and it will happen again..... You want to bet the scums will run and run they will just like they have several times in the past.
See when you build a house on 'sand', the smallest tremor can cause huge problems some people dont want to admit they are sheep in a propaganda war.
Why hide somthing and penalise Tami then have it all out in the open and celebrate it, smells like being caught on the wrong foot.
Go ahead celebrate your dead, you fought for their right to die in your name, don't hide from this, rejoice in this. They died for for for....what?
Why was Tami fired?
But didn’t the pentagon release pictures with these coffins themselves about 300 pics?

have you ever seen Bush's campaign ads.. replete with those flag draped coffins of WTC dead? that's a great way to 'respect the dead' wouldn't you agree?
Yes, he is reminding the public of what the arabs do when they don't get their annual beating.

To respect the dead? Have you seen the photographs of the small girls in Afghanistan who were gutten by US shrapnel? Their photographs were taken by western media and publically broadcasted. Not forgetting the British Squaddies who Pistol Whipped iraqi citizens! For what reason?
I am not Anti- American or Anti-Isreali or Anti-British but this war is wrong and you all know it!
piece or pieces?
Nope.
That’s the way a lot of folks have been reporting it.. but the pentagon did not release those photos because they wanted to. An individual citizen submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request and had to haggle and wait for them–that can be like pulling teeth sometimes. Then this person released the photos on his website, making Rummy angry.

A Marine honor guard carries the coffin containing the remains of 2nd Lt. John T. Wroblewski, during a funeral ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, Friday, April 23, 2004, in Arlington, Va. Wroblewski, 25, of Oak Ridge, N.J., died April 6 due to injuries received from hostile fire in Al Anbar Province, Iraq
Amerikkans don`t like seeing there boys killed thats a pity because there plenty more on the way.
US of A illegally occupy a land they start acting like julius caesar and the locals will soon get bored of the occupiers cocky antics and start attacking you.
This what is unfolding in Iraq now, The US military are for sure not telling the true story of whats going on in Iraq we have all seen the lies and spin that comes out of the pentagon you can only imagine the cover ups and hiding of the true death toll of GI Joe terrorists!
Chota,
To try and answer your original question about the woman who took these pics. This is my understanding - the Pentagon decided that it must weigh the differences between the public's "Right to Know" and allowing the families of those killed in war to have some peace and privacy. Since 1991, the decision has been with the families of the dead. Tami was fired for going against that ruling. (Though I must admit, those Americans who do not support this war will see these photos as a HUGE anti-war poster.)
Abdali, even we Americans realize this is a Pakistani board - why are you getting so angry?
I think it was wrong that the woman lost her job over the pictures.
Double wrong that her husband was also fired...(rumor heard on broadcast news)
This is my take.
Of course the families of these soldiers are grieving and they all have different reactions to the grief.
What I am thinking is that by the time those soldiers are returned home those families all ready know they were killed.
I have ancestor KIA May 25, 1945 at Okinawa, Japan whose body didn't return to the states until Feb. 1949.
I myself don't understand how publishing a photo of a flag drapped casket would offend the family of that person.
The flag drapped casket honors the soldier.
The attention given acknowledges that person who died.
I regret to say that I think its our leaders who want to shield the public from viewing the caskets of the fallen because politically it damages them.

You are right, privacy is the main component of their argument against showing the pics. But these are anonymous coffins.. no one's privacy is being disturbed because we don't know who they are. The privacy issue really only comes into play at the funeral ceremonies. And there the families have discretion over whether or not to hold them publicly. So the argument is kinda flimsy.
Regarding the antiwar value of the pics: Sure, some hippies will try to make arguments using these coffins as proof that we shouldn't be there, but that's a really weak argument. We should let them make it and then disprove it soundly. But to think that we can silence dissent absolutely is ridiculous.

I agree. The politicians for some reason do think these pictures will hurt them. But that also is quite stupid. Every reaction I have seen is one of somber pride. These pictures, if anything, give people a more patriotic feeling. It is in trying to hide them where dishonor is born. That's what will hurt the politicians.
It's purely a political move.
The more coffins the country sees, the more the public want out of the war and the more jitters the administration gets considering it's election time.
(come on Imdad, I know you must of shed tears at the sights of these coffins, but even you of all people could of guessed the political reasoning here. You may not be eleigible to vote, but that doesn't stop you from guessing a motive)!

If had read by posts, I would have already told you what I thought the reason was for the policy. It was to stop the bleeding heart liberals from crying like they always do when they see death.
