daydreams

Is it really stupid of me to dream about being a really big fashion designer in pakistan? from what i’ve been reading on this message board, the fashion industry in pakistan is made up of elites who design only for the slim slim percentage of the pakistani upper class. at least the stuff i design, girls in my family, my frends could all wear them; they’re not things that wud put our families to shame.

PS: i would post up pix of my designs but they’re too big to upload onto here, and i don’t know how to reduce the size.

Send them my way I'll resize them for you.

you can use a program like paintbrush to reduce the size... thats an idea i got from blushing vision

agghhh y dont these work??

well, one came up - they're nice.

I'm sure you would do fine being a fashion designer. What is working these days for a lot of talented pple is that they open up their own services from their homes (granted they live in pakistan)...and by word of mouth they get customers.

And honestly, the quality of their clothing is WAY better than what I see in some boutiques.

So, that's always an option. A few ladies in my family do that kind of thing, although on a very small scale. And its mainly by word of mouth they get their customers. They've recently started, so their customer circle is small right now.

But when women out there find out that someone is making nice designs for good prices - word spreads fast and pple come knocking on your door all the time. Nice way to make good money on the side.

Future designer?!! :biggthumb

i like that last one - its funky.

my sister was into fashion designing and I have a friend who is going to design college or smoething, basically you have to be the best to get anywhere in taht business.

You need to have a brilliant portfolio for one.
You may want to invest in some drawing classes, and/or begin working on stensils and designing around that?

nice job HHS :)

it true in pakistan it doesn't matter if the designers have any talent or not. it all depends on how much money they have and who they know. i've seen the most ridiculous outfits in some of the pakistani magazines. most of the designers don't even have any training. they are just rich bored house wives who hire a tailor who does all the work for them and then they call themselves "fashion designers"

well hell then why don't i do that too?? lol..it seems easy enough to break into it. i wont even have to learn how to sew :)

I THINK STARTING YOUR BUSINESS FROM HOME IS A REALLY GOOD IDEA. THEN U CAN START SELLING UR DRESSES 2 LOCAL STORES AND GO FROM THERE.

I LIKE UR PURPLE LEHENGA, VERY ASHWARIYA, I DON'T KNOW IF SHE WAS UR INSPIRATION BUT I LIKE IT. :)

thanks :)..it was a series of pictures...the proposal, the mehndi, the nikkah, andthe final one is the valeema. and no ashwarya wasn't my inspiration
