"Day of Revolution" in Egypt

Re: "Day of Revolution" in Egypt

Looks like Mubarak is managing to fight back from the brink. pro-Mubarak "protestors" show up on horseback, attacking the real protestors.

Somethings going to happen.

Re: "Day of Revolution" in Egypt

JOurnalists on the spot are saying that thee pro-Mubarak people are the same security forces as before, just in civilian clothes this time. They are quite heavily armed.

The army is not hindering the pro-Mubarak people.

This just got brutal.

Re: "Day of Revolution" in Egypt

This is going to get nasty. Mubarak is not going to leave peacefully.

Re: "Day of Revolution" in Egypt

The pro-Mubarak people are waiving the same posters as were used in the rigged Egyptian election - they are obviously state apparatus.

I'm afraid that the Egyptian people will have to fight for their freedom now.

Re: "Day of Revolution" in Egypt

im afraid Mubarak has been very, very effective.

reminds me of Musharraf's Karachi stunt.

Re: "Day of Revolution" in Egypt

He might have miscalculated though. Last night, the anti-Mubarak people were getting divided over whether his concessions were enough. His application of force now might make them realise that he cannot be trusted and unite them against the security forces again. They beat them once, they might be able to beat them again.

Re: "Day of Revolution" in Egypt

My feeling is hes calculating on protestors to lose spirit, and the Egyptian people in the homes at the moment might come to see two sides on a similar level of culpability.

Re: "Day of Revolution" in Egypt

Sums up that almost all the dictators are the same, the want to hang on to the power until they are humiliated and thrown out by power... see the EX-President of Pakistan... having a spending life in UK, can never even come back to the country he once ruled with all his might

Look at Ben-Ali, 25 years or more he ruled Tunis with all the might and glory and then he had to run from his country and have become a fugitive

Look at Saddam Hussain, no body in Iraq can call him bad and get away with it, and was caught from a shyt hole hiding to save his life....

These dictators never learn... they think they are the only one with intellect and they are one who can save a country despite millions against them...

Re: “Day of Revolution” in Egypt

CNN is saying that pro-Mubarak demonstrators are “looking for a fight”. They are armed and they are violent. Currently they have encircled anti-Mubarak demonstrators in Tahrir square, and army is not doing anything to stop their violence.

Looks like Mubarak is doing this after getting endorsement from Americans (and Israelis and others in ME).

Anti-Mubarak people have only one hope. El Baradei.

ElBaradei rips US call for smooth transition of power in Egypt

“The American government cannot ask the Egyptian people to believe that a dictator who has been in power for 30 years will be the one to implement democracy,” ElBaradei, former head of the UN nuclear watchdog, told CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

Re: "Day of Revolution" in Egypt

lets hope Mubarak ends up like them. a little momentum has been lost today.

Re: "Day of Revolution" in Egypt

^^ So the Demonstrators are with two choices only, fight their way and beat the crap out of the security in disguise or just go home.. Al-beradi can do nothing

Re: "Day of Revolution" in Egypt

I dont think anyone can. Hes urging them to stay till Friday, as has the Muslim Brotherhood. They cant go home that easily either, as theres fighting going on at all exits. Rumours are circulating that theres a massacre planned tonight.

Re: “Day of Revolution” in Egypt

“pro-Mubarak” demonstrators :rotfl:, wow, what else is there to see in the world :hehe:

Re: “Day of Revolution” in Egypt

Yes Mubarak is fighting back using the most vile, corrupt ways possible…

Re: "Day of Revolution" in Egypt

Why is it that the only person not writing in English in this thread is the official American representative?

Re: "Day of Revolution" in Egypt

Coming back to the topic, twitter feeds from Liberation Square in Cairo are reporting that the protestors are having a calmer night now than they did last night.

Evidently they broke the spirit of most of Mubarak's hired goons, they don't seem to be keen on coming back for a second night of having a beating!

Re: "Day of Revolution" in Egypt

Yeah the street fighting is brutal both sides are engaged in very nasty gutter fights... I'm jealous but at the same time I wish the genuine protesters give the goons a thrashing.... last night they stood thier ground.

Re: “Day of Revolution” in Egypt

They think by typing it in Urdu they will carry more weight :rotfl:
