alright i need all the help i can get.. iam doing a dawat for my in laws some time next week its going to be 12 adults and 10 kids.
my only concern is iam a great cook when it comes to cooking for 2-5 people anything more in quantity and i mess up
anywho i need help with my menu i need some yummy but easy dishes i always have the same menu when they come over..
iam actaully considering kofta biryani and aloo gosht not sure about any thing else since they are into desi foods not so much into the western type.. any tips, suggestions for kids as the biryani maybe too spicy.
kofta biryani and aaloo gosht sounds so yum. You can add chicken karahi (or chicken achar or Dum pukht chicken, actually any chicken dish with some masala) to it. Fish n chips or some kind of noodles for kids. Salad, Chutney, Raita, Drinks, Nans and any dessert that you can make easily. Done :)
And then have roti available for those who prefer it.......and your salad and chutneys vaghaira and you're good to go.
Not a fan of aaloo gosht...and my mom has made it today. But if your family enjoys it....then use it as your salan/meat dish. ****But if you're koftay are going to be made of red meat....and aloo gosht is red meat........then maybe make one those dishes a chicken one?
RVs menu is well balanced, and what I would have suggested.
If however you want to do Kofte biryani and aloo gosht you can always do a grilled/tandoori chicken as your dry dish. Keep it mild and serve it with chips for thie kids.
Jhanji , I am no good too , when it comes to cooking in larger amounts ... so this is what I do , I make many dishes in smaller quantities ... thats why I always keep one rice dish and about 3 salan choices !
And almost two types of starters ...
normally with this technique I manage to stay out of trouble with cooking in larger amounts ...
you may try this trick , if it suits you
