Dawat Dishes!

So when you go to a dawat…its probably even more exciting when you know the host is a good cook right?

Name a dish you had at a dawat you never ever forgot! The most memorable one to date!

For me…it was a mehndi I attended years ago where they served Zarda. It was not orange…it was white with mithai pieces in it…and not too sweet either. Oh Em Geeeee…it was amazing! :yummy:

Re: Dawat Dishes!

^ Did it have coconut in it? And maybe other colours? And as for the mitha pieces, were they doodh-ki banni mithai (like ras gullay/cham cham)? If yes, than that's called a thaal.

Re: Dawat Dishes!

And imagine if it had khoya over it too…HEAVEN

Re: Dawat Dishes!

YES!!! I didn't know it was called a thaal...but I've never ever come across anything like it again. It was amazing...I craved it all the time when I was preggo but had to live with manhoos zarda.

Re: Dawat Dishes!

Okay, so my Mama has made in on a few select "happy" occasions - it's apparently some sort of khushi-celebration tradition. She made it on my Ameen, my sister's mehndi and the key is to chahkah the meethay chawwal to the person who's celebrating.

Re: Dawat Dishes!

^ I swear I need a few cooking classes with your mama; and I am dead serious

ps: will pm you right back honey-boney

Re: Dawat Dishes!

Royal Gala, I invited my friend Kamil Alavi to dawat on facebook. But now nobody comes to my party at all so I'll tell everybody to watch it!

Re: Dawat Dishes!

I often relish the nostalgia of the falooda I had few years back at a dinner party.
