Although, I don’t ever support him on the racing track, only because he happens to drive for Ferrari’s arch-rival, McLaren Mercedes. But he’s one fine person on and off the race track; not only he’s a great driver, but also a classy sportsman. I think his career has also taken a dive, eversince Hakkinen retired from McLarern, as number 1 driver. He had the opportunity to be the man at helms, but he kind of got shadowed by kimi-Raikkonen, who came very close to winning the F1 championship this year. Now, there are strong indications that he will be cut lose after the current F1 season, since the McLaren team has signed Montoya for 2005. Where does that leave Coulthard. I am quite sure this is Shumacher’s last season in F1, eventhough, he’s signed until the end of 2006 season with Ferrari. I just think, he’s a great fit for Ferrari, even if, Shumacher stays, he should be given a spot in place of Barichello..what do you guys think.? which are some of the other teams that may be interested in Coulthard ? Minardi,..Renualt..?
Coulthard has admitted several times that he has had some major issues with one lap qualifying. In 2004, I think coulthard will greatly benefit from the "almost" back to back 2 lap qualifying sessions on saturday. If he can show that he is capable of leading from the front, i think Williams will pick em up as their lead driver, with brother Ralf as his wingman. If otherwise, then he will most likely fade into oblivion just like Villinueve.
On a side note, has anyone noticed the 2-edged nose on the new Williams. YUCK
Not too sure if Williams will pick him, but it remains to be seen, since I don't think they have signed replacement for Montoya, yet.
I think, Coulthard really has to finish in top three in the drivers' championship, if he wants to rejuvenate his career, and expects to be picked up either by Ferrari or Williams, after 2004. But, he's definitely lots of racing left in him.
The team, which suffered the most after the change in qualifying sessions, is no other than Ferrari. There were lots of lingering issues with the usage of bridgestones, and driving style, but as Schumacher said before the commencing of last season, that good teams will always find a way to adjust and win. However, their victory was very hard earned one, as we all know. Let's see what happens this year..
