Mem Saab, you're lucky. My mom can also do the same. I've found that sizes and fitting with dharzis have always been ok for me, but they seem to put in the wrong color dhupatta.

they just steal your money, and don't do siht. they are so lazy! and unfortunately we have to depend on them so they do this to you. I swear, when i go back to pak, i want to learn to sew. Last year I drew a picture for a darzi showing what i wanted. and you guys know i draw and i've posted my drawings up here as well. well this guy he TOTALLY ruined it. i wanted a short thigh length sleeveless kurta and he made some looooooooong ankle length sak :(

Exactly Tikhi! My ammi had to come and open all the kameezes up and fix them again. The churidaar pajama bottoms ended up in the garbage. Couldn’t be salvaged at all.

and EIGHT r lying in my house that need to be fixed
he will prolly give them to me by the time i have nawasyaan and potyaan who can fit into em :D

Mehnaz same here, I think he didnt even sew it himself, took like 250 ruppees from us n gave em to his wife or someone who didnt even know how to sew cuz they look so unprofessional, n the first ones were good n so were the samples he showed us, but he ruined so many clothes of mine! n we didnt even have time ot give em back to him to fix or say nothing and on top of that my dad gave him watever he asked for, like 30k ruppees or something..I was so mad!

Why can't they ever get the neckline right? Its either too small or too big. Darzis are idiots and so r the morons who do 'kaam' on clothes. I gave this lovely chiffon at one of the apparently good shops and the idiots doubled the chiffon for the sleeves!!! It wasn;t stylish at all they just used left over material and gave the entire sleeve a lining! I sold most of my clothes that I had made in Pakistan. Plenty of innocent people around :D

i went back to my darzi and he fixed some of the clothes thankfully...gotta take the rest to him next week

Stick with one Darzi..if you don’t like him then switch again until you find a nice one; or you could give your clothes to some neighbors you know that can sew and pay them. That’s what we did when we were in Pakistan. Thankfully we have alot of aunties and cousins in our family who know how to sew 
and they mostly did all the sewing on our clothes.
However, be very careful in who you choose. The last time my abu went to Pak my cousins sewed most of our clothes and I thought they were really good at it, but boy was I wrong! When abu got back with the clothes they were the most hideous looking clothes I had ever seen in my life! Didn’t fit my size at all and the colors and the kapra were so ugly! Most of them were those net type of shirts which I just despise. And to my surprise what happened was my cousins actually gave our clothes to some darzi to be sewn yippy because they didn’t have the time. I still haven’t worn one single outfit out of them.

What you girls may be doing wrong is giving dresses during either eid or shaadi season. That is the time when darzees are very busy and hire karigars that are not very trained. If instead of giving him 10 jaRas at one time, you get two done chances are that only 2 will be screwed. Why dont you girls buy ready made designer stuff from boutiques?
My ammi used to get a kurta shalwar suit made for me every eid, even if I was not at home, from a darzee that had been sewing my clothes since I was very young. He still manages to screw each and every kurta, sometimes it is the sleeves other times it is too baggy same goes with the shalwar, too long, too short.
Now my mother just buys me ready made suits. She now has to work on the shade, I have three shalwar kurtas of exactly the same color.

when i go shopping i go on a spree thats why i end up giving him 8 joray together but im not gona do that nemo
and i dont jus give clothes on eid and shadi season, but all yr round, phir bhee woh satyanas kar deta hae
kino aw man what u gona do with those outfits now? maybe u can give them to someone where u live and get em fixed?

I was only there for a week so I had no choice but to give a whole bunch of suits at one time. I tried giving them to different tailors (four different ones this time) and all four screwed them up.
Ready made suits are too small on me.

my khala gave my clothes to the darzee n she told them to make the shalwars longer (im tall n like long shalwars) n there still to short on me!!! n i told them i wanted my long sleeves to be 2 inches longer and i got my clothes n they dont even hit my wrists.. my mom was like. i dont think the darzee believes that your really that tall.. im 5 9.. thats not that tall.. i know some girls that are 6 .

sara_zzz yeah these darzis always mess stuff up…he’s made all my shalVaars long but i’ll jus tie em higher i swear i dont have the energy to take em to him to get em altered…ugh
Mehnaz im sure u can buy some ready made stuff of ur size..try the botiques in zamzama…
and yeah NEVER give darzis clothes on short notice and that too in one go…

i jus brought them home and tried em …
one of the suits though…its a dark turquoise chicken kapra with white and light blu kaam on it…it doesnt look as good as it did at the shopkeepers

khayr me is happy all my suits r made but right now im kinda feeling bad coz there were lotsa homeless kids at the shopping center

a designer and a darzi are two different things.
