The problem with Medical diagnosis of this kind is that it is purely designed to rationalise and effectively give us peace of mind … it does not claim to be a scientific explanation - If these sleep paralyses were created by “Entities” as Monk says … then how would science disprove that?

My suggestion would be either to replicate the sleep paralysis in another person and isolate the thing that causes it and switch it on and off at will … coaxing people with drugs is not in my view understanding of the phenomenon it is simply putting a harness over the symptoms.

Science resorts to the simplest normal explanation - because it makes the ASSUMPTION that all things are or can happen all the time … and can be extracted from nature given the right conditions. For example - gravity … its effects can be measured when dropping from a height.

What they are looking for in “sleep paralysis” is in the brain/body of the people some difference in biochemistry in the people who experience it from those who don’t - but what if they are looking in the wrong direction? That would make sense to me since they have yet to find that distinct “CAUSE” … May be they cannot find it.

You know the story of the magicians of Pharaoh when they saw the snake/staff of Moses (AS) eat their ropes/stick/snakes - they knew there was no explanation for it. They accept the religion of Moses (AS). Despite this the Pharaoh himself (not being an expert in the art) was convinced that Moses (AS) just knew better magic and he was trying his hardest to find the rational explanation and when he couldn’t he settled himself in his disbelief that it just could not be true …

To a certain degree scientists take this skeptical approach to belief. The same goes for evolution - the belief in God is too much for them to handle … they are more at peace to wait for evolution to explain itself in time, until that point they merely accept it - as if it were a belief in itself.

Your point is a distortion. You’re asking to prove a dis-positive. You can’t prove to me that there isn’t an invisible monkey on the dark side of the moon riding a rainbow unicorn! Assumptions in science are tested, and if they’re found to be unsubstantiated by evidence, then they are relegated.

Science is not based on belief. No one believes in science. Science is not religion. It provides evidence and facts. You test hypothesis based on evidence and the facts presented to you. The way scientists prove mastery is by then making precise and exact predictions about what will occur based on what they know! And it works! Anyone know what the weather will be tomorrow? When is Halley’s Comet due again? When was the last small pox outbreak?

Science doesn’t require faith…it requires evidence! Something religion can’t provide! Every time someone has used religion to predict the future…it’s been a spectacular failure!
