How do you see his captaincy?
Re: Darren Sammy
He cannot justify his place in the team and is not an automatic selection. That is his biggest drawback.
Other than that he handles his resources quite well.
Re: Darren Sammy
agreed with saby.. based on past performances.. i havent been following the current series..
i almost feel bad for him thouhg.. i dont know why.. just his face and his expressions.. haha.. he looks like a "bechara"..
Re: Darren Sammy
Darren Sammy is Mike Brearly of Windies. Brearly (as his batting record shows) could also barely justify his place in the England side as a player. Most of his wins came against Packer-depleted sides

Re: Darren Sammy
^^ haha what a name.. brearly!
Re: Darren Sammy
Sammy is going to be the next scapegoat captain for WI when they get their act together...
Re: Darren Sammy
yae kaya ghazab kar diya aap nay janab? kiss gadhay ko kiss heray say mala diya aap nay… brearly was genius with his field placings, use of bowlers, knowing the weaknesses of opposition batsmen, motivating his teammates ..he was a pretty astute and shrewd skipper by all means…plus forget test cricket for a second…brearly played close to 500 first -class county matches, almost all for middlesex…and he was an outstanding captain there as well…sammy to abiee bachha ha …plus janab, brearly was a WC (although he did not keep wickets in the test matches…at least for most part)
Re: Darren Sammy
Brearly was a sharp captain for sure but he was an average player at best
And look at the team Brearly had at his disposal, the likes of Boycott, Gooch, Gower, Botham, Alan Knott, Bob Willis, Derek Underwood etc., some of the best players ever to play for England. And then look at this Windies team. Sammy is an average player (my comparison was in regards to their ability with the bat!) + the team he is leading is pretty pathetic too. They have only one quality batsman in Gayle (who is talented but very reckless and is not playing at the moment). Sarwan and Chanderpaul (also not playing) are past their prime and none of their bowlers apart from Bishoo ever looks like taking a wicket. Therein lies their main problem. The adage 'A captain is only as good as the team' holds true in Sammy's cases. You can replace Sammy with x,y and z and the Windies' results won't be much different, I can guarantee you that
