The sun's rays will not only darken your skin....they will also cause your skin to age faster. And it is said that the first areas of your body that begin to show their age are your hands and your neck. We spend so much time on our face that we forget about these two areas that are as equally visible as the face. A good unblock will protect you from the damaging effects of the sun. Apply sunblock or sunscreen 15-30 minutes before going out during the day.

Don't forget to wear sunblock on cloudy days as well....because 80% of the suns' rays still pass through. Wear sunglasses and a hat. If possible, avoid going out between 10AM and 4 PM....the sun is strongest during this time period. Drink plenty of water. Keep hands moisturized. You can try using a moisturizer that contains bleaching agents such as hydroquinone (HQ). If it doesn't get better....consult a dermatologist.

Gina.........would it help for her to apply vitamin E to help lighten her hands? Do you have any suggestions for exfoliation......would that help brighten the skin? Also, since vitamin E lightens dark spots.......and olive oil and other oils are loaded with vitamin E........could they also be used to lighten dark spots?

Re: Darkening of hands

my face hardly tans, i need a lot of sun for it to tan even a bit. my hands and arms on the other hand tan straight away and it takes ages to fade.

i would wear a high spf sunscreen as gina suggested.

^ Same here, my arms and feet are the first to tan.. u need a high factor spf sunblock for the arms! :)

Tomato pulp will help fade u're tan and so will regular exfoliation..both will take time though!
