Dark Underarms?

Anyone have this..how do you get rid of it? I’m waxing them and it still isn’t helping.

Re: Dark Underarms?

can u tell it a bit more comprehensively, i dont really got the question ..

Re: Dark Underarms?

contineous waxing or shaving for years will make the area dark. That's why it's best to have laser done....laser all the way...

Re: Dark Underarms?

well waxing is not bad for ur underarms, shaving , or using that shaving cream stuff, makes ur underarms dark, it depends more on the person what kind of skin she has ..

Re: Dark Underarms?

I"m very light skinned, but my undearms are super dark. It is annoying because i can not wear sleeveless!! ugh...

Re: Dark Underarms?

that is really annoying, maybe u dont use the right step for waxing .. ?

Re: Dark Underarms?

r u waxing yourself or having it done?
What about very mild scrubbing everytime you take shower and make sure to use good moisturizer.

Re: Dark Underarms?

i have the same problem, its not waxing which makes it worse its the deplitory creams they are really bad make your skin dark, waxing actually gets rid of the dead skin but once you have dark underarms theres not much you can do.......i know it stinks, i really wanted to do something about them before i got married coz mine are really bad so i told my doctor(shows how desperate i was about them and how bad they are) and so she referred me to a skin sprecialist. she said i was the first to come to her with such a problem and thats not much i could do because people with pigmentation in their skin (coloured people) usually have dark underarms, and are dark on their knee and elbows, i cant remember the full explanation she gave me but she said all i could was conceal them with camouflage make up which uses on people with burns, scars etc.

you could try cucmber juice mixed with honey and lemon, i have given up although im thinking of trying fair and lovely on them!

Re: Dark Underarms?

I'm kind of curious. What is the the darkness caused by? Is it dead skin (which should be removable with a scrub) or is the colouring below the skin?

Perhaps you could go to a dermatologist for specialist advice?

Re: Dark Underarms?

did u just start waxing recently? if so...it should do the trick...both giving up shaving and depilatory creams can help the skin recover and u can also use home remedies like a milk and lemon juice mixture to slightly bleach the skin. waxing also pulls the outer dead skin layer when u pull it off.

Re: Dark Underarms?

I don’t believe there is a way to undo colouring below the skin is there? Except maybe surgery?

Re: Dark Underarms?

Wow thanks so much for the info!

My knees and knuckles haven’t gotten dark it’s just the underarms..argh..and i’m considering fair and lovely too! Just am pregnant and plan on nursing…so don’t trust the stuff.

Re: Dark Underarms?

^^

Congrats!!! :hooray:

(this being the first time I heard the news)

Re: Dark Underarms?

.

That will hurt like hell…

how?

Girls you are scaring me… so after few years my skin will turn dark as well *ouch.. hum larkiyo ke sath chun chun ke masle hote hain…

Re: Dark Underarms?

From what i read online it’s caused by “irritation” rubbing of the skin from razors…waxing supposedly helps exfoliate but what i see is just darker skin…

I may follow up with a dermatologist and see if there are any options.

Re: Dark Underarms?

Congrats Amelie :hula: Hope all goes well for both of you.

I think constant waxing should help. When I was in boaridng school I had to make do with a shaver too, sometimes even those hair removing creams and by the end of college my skin had somewhat darkened too. But i have been waxing ever since and the colour is fine now.

Re: Dark Underarms?

Thanks!

Re: Dark Underarms?

Thanks FF, ok so i’ll hold out hope! Also do you wax with sugaring wax or the other tougher stuff? would one be better?

Re: Dark Underarms?

Uh oh. Those of us guys who go for sunnah-compliance here would be doomed to this eventually too :bummer:

Does this “irritated” skin have an issues with deodorants and stuff? or is it irritated below the surface?

Re: Dark Underarms?

i have used sugar wax for a long time and have now switched to brazilian which is candle wax-like, u oil the skin before so it doesn;t stick to the skin but it grabs every hair it gets in touch with.
