See a dermatologist to find out what might work
for you. And make sure you wear a sun screen
or the pigmentation would get worst.
Re: dark under eye circles and pigmentation around mouth
as far as i know re: pigmentation...u need to determine if you are allergic to anything. brown skin tends to pigment when irritated (could be products used in the past or sun exposure)
first you need to protect with sunscreen all the time as well as minimize sun exposure. visit a dermatologist if you can. some dermatologists are idiotic enough to prescribe a hydroquinone based bleaching creme but even a derm will tell you that hydroquinone can make pigmentation even worse sometimes. so use only at your own risk.
Other companies make bleaching cremes which are hydroquinone free and they could contain ingredients like arbutin, licorice extract, bearberry, kojic acid etc. you could try those since they claim to bleach safely. Im familiar with a few names that are said to be effective. one is a lightening creme by NARS and one is called "meladerm" or "meladerma" lightening creme.
Another option is chemical peels but again they could make the situation worse by making your skin even more sensitive to the sun so that it will pigment even more. there are different sorts of peels, I guess the safest route is to get one that does not penetrate the epidermal cells of the skin to a deeper level.
lastly, diet, exercise, water...the usuals....
if u're searching for natural fixes, turmeric is believed to be helpful for inflammation (you could use it in a face mask mixed with honey). besan, ubtan, dried orange rind and lemon have all been long believed and used to clarify skin. I dont know how far they go in meeting this claim. hope that helps.
Re: dark under eye circles and pigmentation around mouth
Try herbal remedies before opting for any chemcals =) You must get u're haemoglobin checked, lack of iron also causes dark circles. Equal amounts of potato juice, cucumber juice and honey.
Pigmentation around the month can also be due to excess use of lipsticks and lip-liners. Vitamin E based creams and Vitamin E oil shud be applied on those area's =)
Re: dark under eye circles and pigmentation around mouth
^awww my fav store sephora! how long did it take for hylexin to help with the dark circles and how many times a day did you use it?
I know right? totally LOVE sephora! hehe
k and I used Hylexin daily (once a day and once a night on a clean face) for abt the first 3 weeks continously.. and I did see results :)
And then I got lazy, like I usually do, and did it only once a day.. and it still worked fine.
Now my dark circles have decreased significantly.. tho when I discontinued it for a while, I could see them getting darker again.. or maybe it might've been in my head. But all am saying is that this thing really works if u use it like you should :)
Re: dark under eye circles and pigmentation around mouth
Hey, this might be a bit late…but inshAllah someone else can benefit from it! ![]()
I’ve got the same issue with the hyperpigmentation around my mouth and have been using a cream called Meladerm by Civant SkinCare for the past 5 weeks. This area is about 4-5 shades darker than the rest of my face, and I’ve always used concealer and foundation to cover it up. My makeup blends in flawlessly now and when I look at my skin in the magnifying mirror, I can see that the pigmentation is definitely breaking up. ;The outer edges of the discolouration have blended in with my skin tone and I am very pleased with the results so far!;Allhumdulah, I’m noticing changes with the Meladerm…although it is gradual and requires you to follow a diligent skincare routine ( X2 daily exfoliating cleanser, SPF 45, x2 day application..etc.).
The company recommends using the whole set (face wash, toner..etc.), and I will be ordering a full set to see if that accelerates the results, since the toner contains licorice extract and glyocolic acid. The price for the 4-piece set is $114 CND; the 50mL bottle of Meladerm cream on its own is $50 CND…it’s a bit pricey but worth the results!
On a side note:I’ve used many, many, many home remedies for this (including lemon juice, honey+;cinnamon…etc.) and just find this more convenient and effective! I will post again at the 3-month mark to let you know if I’ve achieved full results by then…(inshAllah!!)
Also, make sure you buy the real thing; They only sell it through the Civant website, so anything you find elsewhere is a scam.
And just to summarize (for anyone who’s to lazy to read the full paragraphs!):
PROS:
CONS:
Has anyone else used Meladerm for facial hyperpigmentation issues? ![]()
Re: dark under eye circles and pigmentation around mouth

Re: dark under eye circles and pigmentation around mouth
Hey ganxta_girLie,
It does right? I thought it was some sort of miracle product at first…sounded too good to be true. But I researched this really well before dropping the cash, and it made me a little less skeptical.
It’s not recommended for the entire face; just for areas of hyperpigmentation like freckles, melasma, acne scars and the like. They ship internationally, so getting a packet in the UK shouldn’t be a problem. http://www.civantskincare.com/ It only works for pigmentation on the outer layer of the skin, so you may want to get checked out by a dermatologist to rule out dermal pigmentation since topical treatments don’t penetrate that far. You can also check out reviews here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLKuf8kCXRk and on their facebook group…it’s worked for some people, but not for others.
I’ve got great hopes that this product will give me a more even skin tone, but for now…only time will tell. ![]()
Oh and I forgot to mention that my hyperpigmentation is not a hormonal issue or a nutrition defiency - the people who’ve commented before me are absolutely right about getting those issues checked out as well. My hyperpigmentation is from around the time I was 9…and not wearing SPF until this past year certainly made it worse.
I’m also gonna be getting my hands on some rosehip oil as stoppit mentionned in another thread- just gotta get myself to the local organic shop!
