I have dark circles and whenever I try to apply eye shadows, eyeliners dark circles get accentuated. Moreover my eyes look deep set and tired.
Is the problem with the kind of shadows i choose or the way I apply it.

Re: Dark circles and Eye make up
you should use a concealer. From my personal experience, eye makeup doesn't look all that good on the naked face.
Re: Dark circles and Eye make up
^yes, unless you have flawless skin.
anu, the problem isn't with the eyeshadows or the way you apply them, it's with your dark circles. conceal them, and the eyemakeup will look fine. you have to make sure you have a clean palette before you start with the fun stuff such as eyemakeup and lipstick. even when i'm just posting pictures of my eye makeup, i make sure my dark circles, blemishes, pimples are concealed. makeup looks best and really pops on clean and clear skin.
Like marwah said anu, it's prolly the colors u're using and the fact that u aren't concealing them properly. Buy a good concealer that's made for the eyes, it has bits of yellow pigment in it that takes away the 'blueness' or u're dark-circles. Dust and set it with pressed or loose powder.
Colors that ma highlight u're dark circles are:
Navy blue
Purples
Grey/silvers
Re: Dark circles and Eye make up
i get that too, But only happens if i dont use concealer or my foundation. Get a good concealer so it covers it up! then you'll be fiineee
Re: Dark circles and Eye make up
Well I understand the point about concealer.Thats my biggest headache, the most difficult part of my make up.It does look like some kind of whitish, ashey shade under my eyes.It never looks natural and makes it even more wrinkly and deep set.I think i need to go for a course in make up.

where do you live?
Concealer is a must if you are doing heavy make-up.

U're using a concealer that's too light, when it goes-over dark circles it appears grey/ashy. A corrective concealer will contail yellow pigment to combat the "blue/purple" of the dark circles. Too much powder will emphasize even tiny wrinkles and fine lines.
Buy a concealer that's specifically made for concealing dark-circles.
i heard find orange lipstick and put that on your circles then apply make up. worth a try, and a cheap option, then apply your foundation over that and set with powder.
....Prescriptives do an excellent under eye concealer, that give very good coverage, with a natural looking finish....

As posted in another thread:
for undereyes, you need to keep it as light as possible - no foundation. personally, i find the best thing is light liquid concealer, rather than a creamy one. on top of that a highlighter, like Dior Skinflash; I find it settles much less into fine lines than YSL touche ecalt. this should provide all the coverage you need without being heavy. try to be light handed with the powder around the eye area too, just the lightest dusting.
and for the concealer:
brand doesn't matter too much, it's just for a little bit of coverage as the skinflash and then powder should do the rest of the work. just find something not heavy and most importantly a good colour match. i use MAC select cover-up (NW if your foundation is NC) but i know a lot of people who can't use it as none of the shades match well.
the eyelid area needs something too. it can be a shadow base or left on it's own just to brighten the eye. i use MAC paint in bare canvas. any similar product will do but this is the most popular i have come across.
just concealer, skinflash and mac paint make a huge difference to my appearance and eyes. anything you do on top of this shouldn't make your eyes look too dark or tired as you will have camouflaged all that but if you have deep set eyes, you need to learn tricks like not putting dark colours in the crease and stuff like that.

i don't find it the best base to apply shadow on top of but if you don't want your shadow to budge, it's the best! for normal days i just do a few dots in my crease and pat gently to blend (on top of my all over eye base which is MAC paint). this stops that oily shadow crease that would otherwise form later in the day.

Oh yes there are some ways to put shadows for the deep set eyes and the kind of shades to use.My eye lid area is also dark. Thanks for the suggestions.
