After watching Slumdog Millionaire, Aadesh Shrivastava has a question for Danny Boyle. “How dare you degrade our national icon Amitabh Bachchan?”
Composer Aadesh Shrivastava has been in and out of the US collaborating with rapper Wyclef Jean.
But now after Slumdog Millionaire, Aadesh says he’s embarrassed to walk on the American streets. “I’m so upset. They’ve started calling Indians ’ slumdogs’, just like ‘coolie’ was a gaali in Britain. Now in the US I feel slumdog is a gaali for us Indians. Mumbai has given me everything. To see the city being shown as a place of dirt filth and crime only is very humiliating. Even I can make a film on child prostitution and pedophilia. But it won’t get Oscars because I am not a gora.”
Aadesh saw Slumdog Millionaire in LA this week and he was shocked. “What f…k right does the director have to show Mumbai as a slum? Now we are considered a slum city in all parts of the world. Humlog kahin mooh dikhane laayak nahin rahe.”
While applauding A. R. Rahman’s music, Aadesh says he’d never be part of a film that makes India look like a slum. "I’m so upset. It’s a disgusting movie. Being an Indian it was doubly humiliating to be watching the film with Americans. Even if Steven Spielberg asked me to compose music for a film that makes fun of India I won’t do it. "
Being a diehard Amitabh Bachchan bhakt Aadesh is appalled at the way the Big B is shown in the film. “I puked when I saw that kid smeared in **** asking for Bachchan Saab’s autograph. What the f…k was that? Does Danny Boyle know what Bachchan Saab means to us Indians? Who would dare approach him like that?”
Spews Aadesh, “We applaud people who come to our city and spit in our faces.”
the slum part was shown around the time when liberalization was just introduced(or even before that). then it cut to present and showed the new Mumbai.
it even had the line "India is now the center of the world, and i am in the center of the center.." something along the line.
plus, how does a kid approaching AB covered in sh*t can be regarded as be degrading for the star?
well slums do exist in india.... so how has he insulted india n im sure ppl use worse words then slumdogs to those that live in them... attetion seeker
It often takes an outsider to hold up a mirror to you and show you the dirt on your face. But even then, after seeing the dirt on your face, you actively deny it you are truly and most definitely fcuked.
The last time i heard him speak english on SRGMP was when he said "i AM agree" how did he manage to understand the movie first of all :p
secondly, he himself is an insult..a flop musician shouldn't be talking so much and big :S he should be busy trying to copy the songs himesh and pritam have missed...
Well, Slumdog millionaire is one of the best movies, no matter who says what, no matter if it gets OSCAR on sunday or no, whatever!
All what they have shown is reality and nothing else. The only thing you may deny as unreal is the finishing song, "Jaye ho"..
And yes some indians are in a state of denial saying its not like what is shown in the movie but they are totally wrong, saying a big lie.
Every one knows Mumbai had a huge huge slum population. Even so many cricketers like Vinod Kambli came out of that slum. How can someone deny that???
And still if they want to, surely go ahead but the fact will remain be the same.

and ofcourse, now all the "propaganda" dhol starts...serious, are you guys always *that *smart?
I am surprised Aadesh said that. Aadesh was all praise for Slumdog Millionaire at Vaishali Made's concert in Thane and sang 'Jai Ho' and said everyone was singing that song and was happy that it won Golden Globe and it should win Oscar....
This year is sure a year of underdog. Obama wins, Slumdog Millionaire wins, even reality show like SRGMP had Vaishali Made from very poor Dalit family in remote village win.
