Danish the new No 1 Leggie: Bye Bye Mushy and Goodnight.

I’ve seen enough. Already in the first test match he has had Kallis out 3 times, twice denied by the umpires and once dropped by Moin. Mushy has looked outcalssed by the batsmen at the other end and he might pick up some tail-enders but Kaneria’s in a different league.

We are witnessing the rise of a new star here guys and the fading of an old one. You heard it here first.

Still to early to tell, you can't judge a player's ability in one session, though I agree with you, Kaneria has bowled extremely well and he is very unlucky.

Moin Khan's keeping has been horrible, I would rather have a novice Akmal behind the stumps.

I am not judging after one session I said the same thing before today's play started yesterday:

*. Mushy has plenty of variety but you don't necessarily need it. Shane Warne had two worthwhile deliveries, the leg break and dipping top-spinner and he was much more effective because both deliveries were lethal in combination.

It's been a great learning experience watching the two bowl side by side, and Kaneria has got what all good leggies need - a leg break that turns sharply and with his height he gets extra bounce. For me there's no way that Mushy should get picked ahead of Kaneria again. Kaneria just looks far more dangerous.

I think by the end of this match Kaneria might just have edged out Mushy if he continues to bowl the same way. He is the future. Did I mention rebuilding? :)

Well he got Kallis eventually. to have got such a great player out 4 times before he reached thirty shows what this lad has got :k:

Agreed. So far Kaneria is leaving Mushy behind, but mind you Mushy did bowl very well and Kallis was plumb on his delievery.
anyways, all i want is the betterment of paksitan team, be it through mushy or danish.

Xtreme…Kallis was actually ‘not out’ when he was actually given out.So we can say either he got Kallis out once or thice before when he was not given out incl the dropped chance. You can’t say he got him 4 times. And…speaking about Kaneria…he is the future of Pakistan Cricket.Simply Wonderful spin bowler.

I’m not going to nit-pick. He had Kallis a few times which not many bowlers achieve. Incidentally when i say bye bye Mushi, I include Saqlain Mushtaq in that. Shoaib Malik stuck the boot into his career by picking up 4 wkts today…and the lad can bat.

So Mushy and Saqi, it’s been a pleasure watching you but your time is over. I suggest you catch a plane back to Heathrow and enjoy succesfully bowling at mediocre county cricketers. it was good while it lasted

:hehe:

btw, i am not opting out Saqlain yet.

well I would agree...
he is a star in the making.. his bowling is getting finer and finer by every match... he bowled 21 continous overs today... and it shows his stamina and concentration...
I think that he can play for al ong time and replace the rusty old war horses.....

I wonder if all the opinions had been the same if Kallis was given out to Mushy.
Kaneria today bowled extremly well and much better then Mushy, but Mushtaq is a class act, and Kaneria can't be compared to him for performance based on 1 days play.
May I remind you Kaneria had a hard time against Bangli batsman, so its all about having good or bad days.
The real class of these 2 will be determined in the 2nd innings.
I thought it was a brilliant idea of going in with 2 spinner, actually 3 now counting Malik.
They both maybe leggies but 2 very different types of leg spinners.
Comparing Danish to Mushtaq is not fair, more like comparing Shoaib to Wasim.

although he can bowl some good patches in between overall i think kaneria isnt much of a class bowler....
and i think for a spinner to be a success u need fielders who can hold the chances, which isnt the story in pak team....
but he can get the ball to turn unlike malik, who i always consider lucky when he gets a wicket....
and also i feel kaneria has been unlucky at times....
but overall he aint anything close to a mushy or warne or abdulqadir....

Well I hate to say I told you soguys but the way things have turned out this thread is beginning to look like a prophecy…ahem :smokin2:

yours mysteriously,

Mr Clairvoyant Xtreme

What’s up wit Mushy. He took only one wicket in this test, not good enough for a bowler who’s taken 180+ wickets in 50 tests. Good luck next time (if there’s one) :k:

I agree with Xtreme. Mushy and Saqi should stick to county cricket they ain't any good for international cricket. I would prefere Danish over Mushy and Saqi.

Those who are agains't Danish let me tell ya, we have tried Saqi so many times but he's not the same as he used to be, not dangerous anymore his dosra doesn't work any more ;). And Mushy we have seen him taking so many wickets in county but here we are at the end of the 1st test against SA and Mushy has taken only what? 1 or 2 wickets.

Well I think any remaining doubts have been answered in this series.

Goodbye Mushy you had a good career but make way for Danish, Pakistan's new premier spin bowler, no question about it.

Well I think along with Mushy, Saqi will also fine it very difficult to make a comeback especially in the presence of Shoaib Malik. I am amazed though that mushy after having such a sucessful season at county level had such a poor test series. I know there is a difference between county and test level but to take 100 wickets in the county and then struggle so badly in the tests leaves you wondering.

I said before the test series began that he was capable of only getting out tail enders at international level and that's pretty much how it turned out. I guess getting county players out is pretty much the same thing.

Mushy just doesn't turn the leg break enough to trouble international players and his googly's no longer a surprise like when he first burst onto the scene.

Kaneria on the other hand gets so much turn and bounce from his leggie that he's dangerous without any other varieties just like Shane Warne was.

Eshan bhai, i think the nature of the wickets also played a part in Mushtaq's perforance, he flights the ball and slower in the air and English pitches are faster in nature where in pak they are slow-turners so Mushtaqs pace gets more slower in pakistan, whereas in Eng or in NZL he gets some pace and bounce from the pitch.

On the other hand, kaneria is quicker through the air and that helps.

Yes Saby point taken, but he used to take a lot of wickets on these same tracks. Now either the tracks have slowed down considerably or his delivery has slowed down. Either way he has lost the bite and performed very poorly.
