Theres extreme poverty and extreme wealth there, India is not shining for every one. anyways the op should give his comments on the topic if he wants people to discuss it.

Not shining for vast majority would be more appropriate.. I think the numbers more than enough speak for themself.

Then bharat would not be in a state that it is in as we speak. So first step, stop living in denial... The shining denial of shining india is nothing but blinding.

all 3rd world has child labor. look at India or China or most other. But atleast India is progressing and less and less poor. It will take time because corruption is too much. If we find $100 to invest only may be $10 reach poor - because corruption takes 90.
But middleclass is getting better even after corruption - so there is hope.

The term 'child labor' has been abused to death. I think that if kids are compensated well, and they are leaning the skills as they work, I see nothing wrong with child labor. In Karachi, many auto mechanics learned the art bu working at garages and auto workshops from very early age. You just cannot learn such skill from schools (espeically in 3rd world countries).

Without going into the details of morality of the issue and the rights of a child being a child I agree with you because "Child Labor" is a term coined around affluent societies, yet applied among the very poor where sustenance takes lot more importance than rights.

Child laborious whether it be in developed or emerging economy should be abolished. If everyone paid their fair share of taxes need for child laborious does not arise. Every child deserves education. As for kids learning auto mechanics work I think there are more humane options.
