Can we please talk about some other fantasy literature aside from Harry Potter…or wait, lemme guess…I guess most people here are following the herd and don’t know anything outside of Harry Potter…
This thread is for all you fantasy fanatics to prove that you’re not a follower, but that you are a leader.
shall we discuss Tolkien or Miguel De Cervantes? personaly I rate Rowling not even any closer to Tolkien.
Mehnaz :- unfortunately I haven't read Gregory Maguire as much that I could pass any judgement. I have read some of his books Oasis & Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister. wiating to ge the wicked; lets see.
I've been trying to get my hands on a fantasy novel/series that is WELL-WRITTEN.
Tolkien is the only thing I've come across. Oh and also T.H.WHITE's Sword in the Stone/Arthur books - there were 4 books (one is S in S and Disney based their movie off it). The other three books in the series are totally adult-ish.
Has anyone read the Marion Zimmer ones about Merlin, etc? I heard they were good and well written.
Cervantes was good but VERY WORDY!!!! I only got halfway thru Don Quixote when I chugged it.
I personally though Ivanhoe was hilarious! Somewhat of an Indian movie feel to it - I'm sure Bollywood has borrowed storylines from it...
