I heard Gilani and Musharaf had approached Saudi Arabia for some free oil and Saudis agreed but some powers vetoed that. Nevertheless, it seems it would be very hard to revive economy due to recessive trend in global economy and rising oil prices.

Inflation hit highest in last 17 years here in US as well, so its global inflation we are going thru. Hopefully it will come down sometime in next few weeks/months.

^ probably the local rate, apparently the state bank intervened and brought its price down a bit but it was still selling for that much... according to the report on ARY.

State bank has a limited role. There are things they can do, to facilitate on a short term basis, but they can't really stop long term decends.
During Mush-Aziz era, dollar stayed at 58 for 4.5 years.
