Daira (circle)...

anyone seen it?
I saw it last night and was quite impressed. Its a private production and wasnt aired on PTV. The play was directed by the lead guy himself. someone new, havent seen or heard of him before but hes done a pretty good job. But then again, i am totally out of touch with the pakistani TV film n music scene. The play is about lahore, and what goes on, middle class recreational drugs and alcohol use and abuse, and the stuffed up system which makes an otherwise very intelligent and bright ‘charsee’ into a total criminal… basically what i gathered from the play was… everyone was right in his own mind… considering they were all pakis and living in a paki system. Everyone was a villain, yet alright in their own books, and basically it just shows how messed up the overall system is but nothing can be done. A play very close to the truth and reality and good direction. :k:
i,d recommend every1 to watch it. It has a lot of drug and alcohol use, and adult themes, so maybe u wanna watch it alone and not with the minors.

i totally disagree.

the only good thing about it is, its SOUNDTRACK.

i have seen the drama.

i admit it is an ok story, based on an english novel smoke.

it has come on GEO channel in PK.

but we shouldn`t forget its a pakistani drama.

and there is too much vulgarity in it.

the scene where she is drunk..and kissing...sitting in his laps.

as u might know this drama has been banned on PTV now.

and most of the private channels didnt want to buy this drama, only GEO did.

i dont mind the part where they talk open about drugs , alcohol but they shouldnt show vulgarity like that....drinking getting kissed.

yaar ppl like u make me sick. seriously.
So they are all angels in pakistan yeah? and was this drama more vulgar than indian/pakistani movies??

you people are so resistant to change. God knows why!

There was absolutely no 'needless' vulgarity at all and it was excellently directed.

PTV banned it. Fair enough. because the ptv isnt as liberated or cant be as liberated because its islami jamhoooria e pakistan's offficial television channel.

look at it as a drama you would get from a vid store for ur own private viewing.

OH big deal!
people close your eyes!
he has posted the kissing pic.

KAKA ghussa kar gaye. i didnt mean it in that sense.

trust me i waited 4 months for this drama.

i got its soundtrack...used to listen to the songs.

then i got its DVD.

and trust me i was like telling my family this is a really good drama it has good songs. lets watch it.

finally i put the drama on...my mom was watching i too.

and trust me i was dissapointed. cuz its not something u wud watch with family. guy saying yaar X-Pills lay lo..

finally i had to turn off the drama.

i would personally say its a good drama, considering those scenes.

and like u have said its a good one but rather shud be watched alone :)

Its not based on an English novel by some Englishman...Moth Smoke was written by a Pakistani.

i wanna see it!!

kaka if u liked this.... u should see Ajaib Khana as well... that was banned in pakistan too i think and then it was censored and all... i really liked it

Lahori Cheetah... kaka may not know who the main people in the drama are... do u have any idea? just wanna know who the actors are..

Ajaib Khana was tame. It was bold for its time, but from the stuff I've seen lately, its nothing.

I have seen families sit together and enjoy Indian movies with all their vulgarities, yet when it comes to Paki dramas they cant even take a mild bold scene that portrays nothing but reality.

This is hypocracy at its best.

Its all well when these things are not in our backyard, but when they are....our reaction is different.

^ exactly.. i mean we watch western movies all the time lekin we feel nothing when we see two people kissing... lekin if in a pakistani drama, two people are shown remotely close to one another... we get all fidgety..

im glad pakistani dramas are showing reality now... its good to see Haseena Moin showing us fantasy stuff... and on the other side we see chaudhry's fighting gun battles... but its about time they started showing things that are much closer to reality, things we keep a blind eye to..

yeah Ajaib khana was a bit tame... but was wild for its time as well..

Well, I saw it, and I read the novel "Moth Smoke" by Mohsin Hamid last year. In my opinion, the book succeeds on two levels.. shock value, because of the party/dope culture it talked about, and the fact that people like me in general are hungry for contemporary Pakistani Literature. Other than that, dont expect much from it. Yes, hamid does weave a decent story that is very character oriented... but its no War and Peace.

The tele-film is also different, but really leaves a bad taste in your mouth at the end. Yes, its experimental in certain parts, but really leaves you devoid of substance at the end. You feel nothing for the characters... zero empathy. And with the exception of Faakhir's "Sub Tu Sohniye..." the songs didnt stand out too much. They were trying really hard to be really different... and at the end it turned out to be a regular pakistani soap with some spice to it.

Cast are Shehzad Nawaz, Adnan Siddiqui, and Ayeshah Alam. Acting was ok, particularly Shehzad, and Ayeshah. But it was a let down.

Do watch it if theres nothing better to watch... at the the end it will just satisfy your curiosity and nothing else... Oh and this flick has the worst sound design you can imagine!

we have two totally different views of this movie [1 by KAB and 2nd by 6ft]. in my view, everything depends on your perception as in how you look at it. however i do not agree with 6ft regarding songs. they are some of the best tracks i've heard in recent times. about movie, i can't say anything as i haven't watch it yet. :)

but I heard Daira was a tele film and now you guys are sayin' it's drama and which is a lil' vulgar. Damn, gotta watch this.
