Most kids are out of control and do not have respect for elders and they take things for granted.
This dad did mentioned that he tried the communication approach the last time his daughter misbehaved but obviously that did not work. May be shooting the lap top was bit OTT but I can understand his frustration and teaching his daughter some much needed lesson.

First thought: Good for him for clearly demonstrating that his daughter's behavor is not appropriate and will not be tolerated.
Second thought: What I find extreme is the public nature of this video. I do not approve of public discipline. Humiliation does not teach your child or build character, IMHO.

What a cowboy he is, using a gun to teach his kid a lesson. He could have simply taken it away or thrown it away, but since he is a cowboy .........
