Daas Kabir Jee

Re: Daas Kabir Jee

I observed all the sufi poets be it Sachal Sarmast, Shah Latif, Baba Bulhe Shah, etc despised the idea of ritual religion and its practices that creates boundary walls between humans.

Re: Daas Kabir Jee

No doubt! Abida Parveen excels at singing sufi poetry. Be it Arre logon tumhara kia, Gharoli by Sachal Sarmast, Tere Ishq Nachaya by Bulhe Shah... rendering of these poets by Abida Parveen always leaves impact on listeners. God bless her and keep her healthy.

Re: Daas Kabir Jee

Yeah, and I like the fact that communion and fellowship always underscored his criticism. Pity that those less overtly "religious" are often the most humane. Organized religion sometimes misses the point of it all, or maybe it's our own myopia that keeps us blind.

Hindus claim Rama as their God
Muslims claim Rahim
Both fight and kill one another
Not knowing the root of thing.

Amen. I grew up listening to her. And thanks again for sharing the Kabir-Abida-Gulzar compilations. I had "Bhala hua meri mutki" on loop all week.

Re: Daas Kabir Jee

:hat: ‘Bhala hua meri matki toot gai, main to pani bharne se choot gai’ is my favourite too. When I first heard it, I thought ‘Kaam chori ki inteha hogai’, but the lyrics were strong enough to make me serious.

Maati Kahay Kumhaar se tu kia roop de mohay
Ek din aisa aaega main roop doongi tohay

Re: Daas Kabir Jee

^ the above probably is a Hindi doha - maati is mud, Kumhaar means potter?

Re: Daas Kabir Jee

^ Ok - had forgotten abt this thread - ignore above question - it is a Hindi doha.

Listened to the videos - very nice
