All kinds of daals are welcome when very well prepared with a good tarkah...than they turnout to be better than a meat recipe... :)

In Karachi behind I.I Chundrigar Road there was a Kaka Punjab restaurant, his mixed daal with makhan ka tarka and chutni was heavenly.

Ever tried Pakistan Army chana daal with tandoori rotis…wow…you would want to run like a horse…ask them for a recipe…

i know a family they have daal dish which is served as one of those specialty dishes. Its cooked with 4-5 daals mix, i guess. served with boiled rice, mint raita, salad and shami kabab.

I absolutely **adore **any dal in any form,but my favourite has to be Ammi’s moong/masoor with ghee ka baghar and khushka chawal and kachumbar.
Moong ki dal palak…chane ki dal palak…maash ki dal palak…pach rangi…arhar ki dal with tomatoes and garlic baghar…khatti kali masoor…I could go on…

Not a self praise, but people say I cook one of the best daal in down. Most of the dinners at our place now have daal on the menu on request. I love to drink that 
I also like dry moongh kee daal. My wife does not know how to cook this (although she tried many times but it did not come out good). My nani was the master of that and mom also learned from her …so its been YEARS that I had that 
oh and I also like split chickpea (channey ke daal). Not in too liquid form.
What goes with daal? well I eat it with anything white rice or rooti (break the roti and pur daal over the roti). with daal can be fish, baked chicken, kachoomer or aaloo ke Qatliaan
Basically any daaalllll cooked good … I pick that up before murgh and biryani !
It's funny you should mention that about breaking the roti and pouring the dal over it Decent 6Chora....but my nani used to eat dal like that and we all copied her.Sometimes even now I have it like that...it's easy to eat that while watching telly :)..nice with baasi roti too.
Would love to learn how to make kharri moong ki dal..mine always always goes mushy...

^ Oh i love daal poured over roti pieces. I saw my dad doing that, I do that and now my 8 years old has started copying me too ....talk about family tradition :)
