Cynical sense of humor

Yes I know we can all be cynical sometimes, but what does having a cynical sense of humor mean?

p.s. Please if you are gonna post the defination from google, can you at least put it in layman’s term. Also I don’t know where this topic belongs, move it if doesn’t belong here.

Re: Cynical sense of humor

Cynical humour is in my understanding the group of jokes that are based on the irony, misfortune and morbid topics, none of which are designed to make you laugh. Rather the response is likely to be a chuckle which morphs into a sobbing.

Alternatively it could also be a signal from a person who is cynical about humour and never tries to be funny, which means the person is not funny and never attempts to be so.

I use cynical humor to talk about things that have gone wrong in my life. Its either that or self-pity...which is a waste of time & emotion.

Re: Cynical sense of humor

Thanks Psyah for defining it in layman's term.
Imani, I think you are using cynical humor as a coping mechanism, which I guess is better than self-pity.
