Re: cyclone in karachi - terrible natural calamity
You know, they showed this village somewhere along the coastline that's been totally battered by the cyclone. They don't have anything much to eat - they're having one meal a day. Its a fishing village, and they can't fish because of the waves (I don't know if they're ok now that its died down).
Do you they said no one warned them of the storm (although the gov't said they warned everyone), and they said the only communication they have with the gov't is their nazim (? I guess that's what they're called?) - the nazim bought them 2 loaves of bread. For the entire village.
Now that's begairat.

Re: cyclone in karachi - terrible natural calamity
The cyclone is still having its effect! It is still raining in Northern Balouchistan and Southern Afghanistan even after four days it hit the land at Ormara and Pasni on Monday/Tuesday.

"In 1965, a cyclone hit Karachi, killing 10,000 people."
There was no such cyclone hitting Karachi. However, the story is true for East Pakistan (now BanglaDesh) for December 15, 1965 and there were 10,000 casualties. Inna Lillahay wa-inna elayhay raajay oon.
