Re: Cutting off your TV cable
Fail.
If you live in the US, Netflix is pretty good from what I’ve heard. The selection in Canada sucks. Shouldn’t Cartoons be available on the basic channels? Kids these days are spoiled, whatever happened to waking up early on Saturdays to watch Recess, Rugrats, Hey Arnold and Power Rangers. Pokemon and DBZ was enough for the weekdays. And Fresh Prince obviously. Proud to be a 90s kid! ![]()

Same here. Except for me it was waiting for the cartoons hour everyday at 4pm after school (on the crappy Saudi channel I was stuck with). And then dish antenna and Cartoon Network came along, Johnny Quest, The Mask, Swat Kats, Bionic 6...those were the days. :)

Oh dude I totally forgot about Cartoon Network. Swat Cats and The Mask were awesome. So were Transformers and and Beast Wars.
I also remember watching Franklin and Arthur before school. Those WERE the days.
I'm such a nerd! :p
Re: Cutting off your TV cable
Ok that sounds postive. I want to do that, we hardly watch TV but just for couple of channles for kids, we are paying $80 per month. I signed up for Netflix this weekend ($7.99 plan) and since then, Kids are just watching shows and movies off Netflix. I dont see a need of Cable TV myself and now after your testimony, I may go for that.
We are in the same boat. Around 80$ that we pay, we end up watching on-demand kids shows and occasional programs for us. I am seriously thinking of removing cable. I already have Desi box (Tv-DESI around 22 channels for 30$/month). I'll just get Netflix and hulu and most likely end up saving 50-60 per month!

I am talking about the legal stuff here ![]()
Cool man. so you are in the same boat. Good to know that you are thinking of the same solution.
Re: Cutting off your TV cable
You are not alone many desi families own that hacked box. Some of them are punj waqta namzi. ![]()
Yep you are not alone like I said above.
Only a desi can build a business on illegal contents.
I have bought two Roku boxes and subscription to Netflix and Hulu . Did not cut the cable yet. I have to figure out a way to stream some live TV for news. I tried some indoor antennas they did not do the job. I will end up erecting an outdoor antenna.

Hell yeah! Back then they had real cartoons, not stupid things like Ben 10 and Dora the Explorer lol
Re: Cutting off your TV cable
What
We have a Sky box which comes with a lot of free channels so we haven’t subscribed to any pay-to-watch channels coz no one watches TV anyway!

Re: Cutting off your TV cable
For maximum flexibility get a HTPC (Home Theater PC) instead of the set-top boxes like Roku.
This is a good HTPC
Re: Cutting off your TV cable
and where do you going to get the feed for Home Theater pcs ?
Re: Cutting off your TV cable
From the internet, of course.
Netflix, Hulu+ etc. all work on PC. Basically, anything that works on any set-top box will work on PC too.
Some set-top boxes will support some services and some will support others. PC will support everything.
Plus, it will run any downloaded audio/video file while there may be compatibility issues with set top boxes.
You can also choose your own media player software and add your own codecs to get desired performance/resolution.
An external USB DVD/Blu-ray drive can also be added if you have actual disks to run.
Unlimited flexibility!
