If you only have 5-10 minutes until the NEXT prayer (whether it’s due to forgetfulness, laziness, etc)…do you pray the current one as “qaza” or do you go ahead and pray (with the view that it’s better than omitting it)? I’ve heard one person say that it’s considered too late to pray the current prayer. I’ve heard another person say it’s better to pray it even though there are only a few minutes left than to not pray it altogether.
So, let’s say that Asr starts in 10 minutes…do you go ahead and pray Dhur? What is/are the ruling/s for up to how late you can perform namaz?

This is what my dad has told me , he follows it & I follow it too.
my asar prayers comes in between my travelling time from work to home and by the time I reach home maghrib time is near ..........so that means I qaza my asar prayer just because I am late !
others may have different practice but this is what I do !
If you still have time before the start of the next prayer, you do NOT offer qaza but regular prayer. If that time is gone and the next prayer time has started, you first pray the current salat, then qaza of the missed one.
Allah SWT! many times in different Surah’s said to Establish prayer ang give zakat i.e. Surah Al Baqarah 2:43 And establish prayer and give zakah and bow with those who bow [in worship and obedience].
Each Prayer doesn’t take more than few minutes to perform. Prayer in Islam is a direct link between the worshipper and Allah SWT. There are no intermediaries between Allah SWT and the worshipper.
When in circumstances where it is not possible to pray, or when on journey, you are permitted to shorten Salah. Such a shortened prayer is known as Salatul-Qasr.
In case the stay at any one place during the journey exceeds a fortnight, complete the Salah, with all the Farz and Sunnah raka’ats must be offered.
If you are sick, you may offer your Salah in a sitting position or Iying in bed, by making signs in place of the physical movements. In journey, in sickness and in other emergencies, one is allowed to offer two separate Salah jointly. Thus Zuhr and 'Asr can be said together in the last part of the period of Zuhr, Maghrib and 'Isha may also be offered similarly towards the end of Maghrib time (when it is almost dark).
**Aik Waqia: **Few eyes expert approached to Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas and told if u agree we cure your eye but you have to do Sajda on higher place like on wooden or something. Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas simply refused to go for treatment of his eye and said **Wallah! Mujeh aik rakat bhi is tara parhna manzoor nahi hay Mein ne Hazrat Muhammad se suna hay k jis ne jaan bhooj kr aik namaz bhi chor di Haq Tala Sha’na se woh banda is tarha mily ga ke Allah SWT us pr Naraz Hogain **(dar Mansor - Book Fazail-e-A’amal)
My asar prayers comes too in between my travelling time from work to home but sometime i stay at office late so i can offer salah on time. Sometime if i’m in hurry i choose that way to home where a Masjid comes and in between my way office to home, i offer the prayer at Masjid.
Prayers is the pillar of Islam so try to offer it on time and i don’t think so any1 will stop u offering prayer unless he/she is one of Shaitan’s companion.
Allah SWT! Hum sub ko Namaaz ba-Waqt pr parhnay ki toufeeq ata farmain Ameen

bro this is only possible for men. being a woman neither I can stay late at my work place nor I can stop at a mosque for my prayers.
lethal kamikaze I am in Karachi yahan par kisi bhi sunni masjid main ladies kay liye koi arrangement nahi hota hai. warna kisi ko namaz qaza karnay ka koi shoq nahi hai.
haar koi apnay halat kay mutabiq best decision leta hai . namaz sirf Allah aur us kay banday kay beech hai aur is ka hisab sirf Allah ko dena hai. hum ko to yeh bhi nahi maloom kay humari namaz Allah nay qubool bhi farmayee hai ya nahin because atleast I dont get a receipt from Allah for my namaz . Allah kis ko kis darjay par rakhta hai yeh sirf usko hi maloom hai kiyoon dilon ka haal & hum sub ki majboorion ko us say behtar koi nahi janta.

You have time for Zuhr until Asr starts, so even if it's 10 minutes, make it. It's not qaza by then.
I searched google as a last resort, and I still couldn’t find anything and this might be the first time I’m unable to find an answer on internet :s so yeah… good question, I’d like to know the answer too from a scholar
But in my opinion, it’s said that the more delayed a prayer is, the worse it gets… so it’s best to read the prayer if there are 10 minutes, and you CAN finish the prayer in 10 minutes… but what I do in my life is that I leave it if there are like just 2 mins remaining and the azaan for next prayer will start before I can finish reading the previous namaz… I just don’t feel right if I’m praying zohr and masjids are giving azan for asr =/ sometimes I even go as far as reading asr in the first congregation, and then doing niyyat for zohr when some belated worshipers make their own congregation for asr!
