I always thoughtt poor ppl cut coupons…but these ppl are far from poor…they do it to save , cuz the option IS there…ive no exp with this but hot diggity damn ima move to amreeka or canada just to cut coupons!

Anyone here do it? it must be a tedious job and god the math?!

I cant get over the paying 2 dollars for 890 dollars worth of stocking up of groceries…honestly…

Re: Cutting coupons

2 dollars folks!

:faint:

Re: Cutting coupons

I've seen it as well. The majority of the people spend the equivalent of full time work into cutting coupons. This one woman kept going into dumpsters looking for coupons.

Re: Cutting coupons

Extreme couponing?

This one man had a bill of above 1600 dollars and he paid nothing for it.

Re: Cutting coupons

Man the cashiers must hate their jobs :D

Damn man...thats crazy!

So...why shouldnt ppl cut coupons....imean there's definate saving ...proven... Right?

Re: Cutting coupons

Coupons are there to attract you to buy stuff thinking it will be cheaper . Its the same show that you see on Blackfriday .

Re: Cutting coupons

But it is cheaper! How do u explain ppl paying nothing and getting a lot?! And its all stuff u use like shampoo and gravy!

Just don't try to make sense of it
... It will only make u lose your neend!!

Re: Cutting coupons

I have seen that show and as someone said these people spend more hours than they would at a full time job just cutting coupons...!
I have no idea what they do with rooms full of stuff they buy.Do they sell it to others because I do not see them using like 100 bottles of shampoo in a few months or even years. There is a reason they call the show extreme couponing or something like that.
I have never associated coupons with poverty..What these people do on the show might have nothing to do with their financial status,or so I think. They are just crazy obsessed...!!

I read an article and i was amazed aswell how this craze has come over to the UK.. It makes sense to stock up on tinned stuff like beans tomatoe bathroom stuff etc as they have a long shelf life, but breads milks etc theyre not going to last long when you buy in bulk.! But its amazing how they can buy so much yet literally walk away with it for free.. Their hands must ache from all that cutting though.!

Re: Cutting coupons

I watch that show, and Im just amazed at these people! I use coupons when I find good ones, or if its on an item that we actually use, but it is nothing like these people. I wish I had the stamina and know-how to do it, because I would surely do it! And, I dont which grocery stores those are that DOUBLE coupons!!

Re: Cutting coupons

I've seen something similar, but where people buy a product, complain about it, and then get free stuff :/

Re: Cutting coupons

I saw this one lady at the superstore with lots of coupons. She did hold up the line for an awfully long time but she ended up saving a lot of money. I barely use coupons but I do take advantage of price match. We get flyers at work so I would go through different grocery store flyers, circle the things I want, go to walmart and show the cashier the flyers and they always match the price for me. It's easier and faster than cutting coupons or even driving around town looking for sales ...

Re: Cutting coupons

Im not sure if I'd spend hours and hours cutting coupons BUT

I do take advantage of deals and coupons when I see them.

Before I buy online, I always google coupon codes to see if I can find any for anything...even free shipping.

I once bought 25 vases that were on sale for $1 a piece. We have family parties and we always need something and those came in handy so many times.

If I could find it in me to be even more economical, I would. Because its my money.

Re: Cutting coupons

So, I used to do this, and yeah, I'd save a good 10 bucks every time I went to get groceries/house items. Also, groupon and those sort of programs - super awesome. I've gotten AMAZING deals for luxury items/dinners

Re: Cutting coupons

i hav seen sikh ppl buying 10 bottles of milk, not once but several times. i just couldn't understand wat they do with all this milk. they actually freeze it and make youghurts from it and freeze that too.

Re: Cutting coupons

Yep, I used to coupon (although not as hardcore as what you see on the show). I stopped it when I started wedding planning and plan on returning to it afterwards.

For me personally, couponing saved us quite a bit on household items (cleaners, toiletaries etc.). If you notice, food wise, most women on the show buy package/frozen items which are not healthy. Its difficult to do extreme couponing if you buy a lot of fresh fruits/veggies. But if you pay attention, its easy to stock up on meat when they're on sale.

There's particular site/forum where many of these couponers go to. When I used to do it, I'd say I spent about 10-12 hours each week on this. I had a excel spreadsheet and separate envelopes to keep track of everything (I was about to start a binder when I took my break). It can get very tedious.....going through weekly ads/coupons on Sunday papers, searching online for printable coupons, reading that one forum to see what "tricks" other couponers are doing.....figuring out which stores I'll get the best deals at and how to stack the coupons etc. And yes...clipping and organizing the actual coupons (I always got 2 Sunday papers...you need multiple coupons on many items to get the best deal). CVS and Wal-Green's are my personal favorite due to their coupon policies and reward system (although I'm not sure if any of it has changed in the last few months). I did all my "research" focused on 3-4 stores which I frequent instead of every store out there.

I never did anything extreme like on the show since I kept my trips small...but I will say I saved a significant amount. I think my "best" trip was once at Wal-Green's where my total was around $46........and I ended up paying like $5. I had a decent stockpile on soaps, shampoos, mouthwash, toothpaste, razors, lotions, cleaners etc. etc. etc. I also saved quite a bit on buying snacks, soft drinks when we'd have guests over. I will say one thing....I never bought stuff that we weren't going to use sooner or later. Oh and when my stockpile was getting out of hand.....I gave plenty of items to my parents/siblings so they can benefit from it.

Many of these women do it out of "need". But there are others who do it as a hobby (ie. they actually enjoy it). And of course, there are others who can afford it but choose to be wise with their money. Personally, I fall in the 2nd and 3rd category. We like to be wise with our money. But the hours I spend on doing all the research/work for it....I actually enjoy it. In a weird way....I find it a bit relaxing. It has definately helped me save money, along with sharpening my organization skills (not to mention teaching me to pay attention to details!).

Oh as for which stores double coupons....Kroger's used to double/triple coupons but not anymore (they took that away and replaced it with their gas reward program). Last time I checked Randall's doubled coupons too. Keep in mind that many grocery stores are regional and may have their own policies. And a lot of it also just depends on the employee you're dealing with (some are actually quite helpful while others can be outright rude/annoying).

Re: Cutting coupons

You're my kinda gal!!!

Re: Cutting coupons

Yeah that's my sister in Texas. $2 for $150 worth of groceries at Randalls, witnessed with my own eyes over and over again. Not possible in Canada though, try as hard as you may.
