Hey all. So my nikkah is going to be on the day of baraat, and the usual logistics of the thing is that the girl is in the bridal room at the time of nikkah while groom is on the stage. I was thinking if you guys could share any ideas for doing this in a cuter way? Maybe both bride and groom sit on stage but have a net curtain b/w them or something like that till nikkah is done etc. So any more ideas?

I agree with Brit Chick, why does a nikkah need to be "cute"....if ain't broke, don't fix it lol.
Nikkah should always be on the same day as baraat/ruhksati anyway, that's the whole point, to have as many people as possible witness and bless the union. Where I live, in our family and social circle/community, the nikkah is performed with both bride and groom seated together on the stage at the same time.

It doesn't need to be cute, but I want it to be so its more memorable. Maybe cute was the wrong word to use - how about nicer or even unique.

Use skype and broadcast nikah to monitors around the hall. Twitter updates at every verse. Have someone standby to change facebook relationship status as soon as 'qabool hai' is uttered. Ask nikah khawan for intellectual property rights of post-nikah dua.
But seriously, try to read translation of 'khutba-e-nikah' and try to follow it in your life. That would make your whole life memorable.

Maybe you can wear a ghoongat for the nikkah (on the stage) and after the nikkah, the groom can lift the ghoongat ..
For the nikkah, get a nice pen with the date inscribed (hate the 20 rps ballpoint pens in the pictures) and after your wedding, frame a copy of the nikah nama for your bedroom.

Your idea itself sounds nice. Personally I prefer more intimate Nikahs and don't favor the stage idea but if your family is okay with it and don't insist on it being separate but then you'd also be making your entrance before and everyone would have seen you before the start of the reception. My family always does it separate but is there an area in the hotel or hall that can be decorated nicely where you'll be for pictures sake. A room decorated with flowers everywhere or something separate from the getting ready room..

Yeh I dont understand all the judgement.
I had a similar dilemma. I did it so that my nikkah was on my mehndi (so we could sit together)...came in with a ghoonghat, and had it on until the nikkah was over. And we didn't sit super close to each other. It was much more..stiff...and then after the nikkah we sat closer, ghoonghat came off. turned out nice in pics.
