This lady who I know that sews clothes for people has recently come from pakistan and her husband treats her really badly, the money that she makes from sewing is also taken from her. The annoying thing is she thinks this is normal and told me that in islam the husband has the right to cut off his wifes nose if she is disrespectful or brings shame on the family. I searched on the net and this is what I found.
This is zahida parveen, her husbands chopped her ears off, her nose, and took her eyes out of the sockets while she was 6 months pregnant.
HE ASSUMED SHE WAS HAVING AN AFFAIR.
What are your thoughts on this?
I have never been to pakistan, so guppies from pakistan how common is this?
the thing that really irritates me is that alot of village women think this is acceptable, and go as far as saying that in hell ther'l be more women because they did not obey they husband or did not do pardha from ghair men.
This is VERY VERY common, in fact women population you see on streets is the only one whose nose and ears are not cut-off, a large population of women in Pakistan are house-hidden because their ears, nose, hands and what-not is cut-off due to various reason. We need to start a major campaign against it.

I find that difficult to believe, since my mom was a so-called "village" woman...she's just as appalled. They know it's wrong, but victims tend to fault themselves for the crimes done to them.
Tobah Astaghfirullah. Allah Ta'ala iss bichari aurat ki mushkilain kam karray, aur issay honsla day kay uss janwar ko chhor day. Ameen. Things like this really make me depressed, and make me want to crawl into a corner and cry my eyes out. Laakh laakh shukkar kay Allah Ta'ala nay humko aisi museebatoon ki parchaii say bee bachaya hai. Heartbreaking.

O no I didnt mean all women from villages, my own mum is from a small village and she doesnt think this is right, but obviously educated women are not going to think the same way as uneducated ones, maybe I should have phrased it better, sori.
Your sarcasm is well understood. However it is not a sight one can laugh at.
however, if this is a true story and this was done to the woman by her husband, then what ever the cause may be, and however remote the case is as we believe, it is **abhorring **and he must be given the same punishment or better as deemed correct by the courts. Better yet let the islamic courts pass hadd on him to see what he deserves. Hands or head chopped off.
^ I understand, as you can see, my response was more aligned with common sense then geography/culture/incident itself. People create images based on what they say/hear from media without using their own common sense... but then common sense is not so common after all.
