Customs Regulation on US/Canada Border

So if someone is moving from US to Canada and plans to cross the border with all his belongings, probably a truck full, along with his car, what kind of Custom regulations apply? I am looking for person experience, not websites.

Re: Customs Regulation on US/Canada Border

Ahmadjee,

If he is immigrating then he can bring in whatever material he wants with him the first time and it has no duty applied on it. He can also specify the material folloiwing him later on and that will be duty free as well.

Is that what you want to know ?

Two green garbage bags full?

Anything ticking?

Will the explosives dogs go wild?

T-shirts saying "Gora go Home, Brown Boys Rule!"

Any hollowed out Trainers?

You need to be more specific......

Re: Customs Regulation on US/Canada Border

Exactly. Are you speaking from personal experience or at least someone you know?

OhioG, nothing much, all I own are some box cutters, flammable shoes, orange dungaree and black hoodie. I do intend to buy a big drum with a danger sign on it. They are a great piece of abstract art.

Re: Customs Regulation on US/Canada Border

Incidentally apparently the border crossing between Manitoba, Canada, and the Northwest Angle, a US enclave in Minnesota on the Canadian side of the Lake of the Woods, is unmanned. People crossing the border are expected to phone Canada Customs (or US Customs if you’re going the other way) and call in your customs declaration.

The border crossing is unstaffed. Travelers using the single gravel road into the Angle are expected to use the telephone provided to contact Canadian or U.S. Customs and make their declarations. This fact has caused controversy among many who feel that this unsecured border in a post-9-11 world is dangerous and could lead to terrorists and illegal immigrants entering the United States without anyone’s knowledge.
