Yes this happens … I think it is better than leading a life completely secularised from Islam … or where ones decisions are abstract from considering the Islamic angle.
I however “do” what my fiqh books and scholars say and when discussing with others try to bring about the simplest common ground that is acceptable to the major schools as the basis for “others to do” … this is because my principles require me to be strict on myself yet lenient on others.
