I fail to understand why some people one is acquainted with can’t even complete a single sentence without using some sort of cursing or swearing?
Is it because their vocabulary is so limited that they keep coming back to the same words without fail.
Or maybe they think they are uber cool because they swear and that’s like the IN thing.
Or maybe they think being bad = being attractive in the bold and bad way?
Also how do you react if your siblings/family/friends swear alot esp in front of people you are not that well acquainted with or you come across some one who swears unintentionally a bit too frequently?
PS and no I **don’t **want asteriks running all across this thread and I mean it
The choice of my language usually depends who I am around at a particular moment
Makes sense but at times some people are so well versed in cursing that they manage to have frequent slip of tongues even in front of people they are not that well acquainted with.
Also I find it kind of ironic when one doesn't mind the cursing/swearing yet has a huge problem if their in laws or spouse do so...or get totally off the hook if their kids pick words and use them in front of elders!
**thanx a million that NO ONE in my entire family [second generation born N raised in Canada] swears at ALL...NOT just around us or even with their friends...i think it ALL depends how your family has brought u up...if they don't swear themselves and strictly tell their kids that swearing is UNACCEPTABLE then they will grow up not swearing at anyone.
So I’m a total potty mouth. BUT only with those who are also potty mouths :D. I would never curse in-front of a person I know doesn’t, and defiantly not someone who is just an acquaint.
But cursing in public is just so unclassy . It makes you sound like you never went to college and don’t have a job.
thanx a million that NO ONE in my entire family [second generation born N raised in Canada] swears at ALL...NOT just around us or even with their friends...i think **it ALL depends how your family has brought u up****...if they don't swear themselves and strictly tell their kids that swearing is UNACCEPTABLE then they will grow up not swearing at anyone.
i honestly HATE those who swear!!!**
Believe me, my parents are not at fault for why I curse. They have spend their life telling not to do it, but do I listen? Nope. :p
I see that a lot in the movies...where practically each character's every other word is the F-word. Since it's excessive...it kind of gives it an unnatural/fake feel...and makes it seem like you have a limited vocab and lacking in intelligence. I usually don't curse...unless I'm super angry or frustrated.
I swear when I'm very very angry and that rarely happens. But I still use the low-level swearing (like the ones some people use daily without any hesitation - those which are pretty much not frowned upon when someone uses them). Also I prefer to swear when I'm alone. =D
I'm not a potty-mouth. And people who are, turn me off.
I had a teacher in under-grad who used to be unbearable with his language. Once during class I asked him to please tone down a bit on the swearing. He gave me a C in his course which I did not deserve. sigh
