How come words like sh!t and b!tch are censored yet the p and d word (think anatomical references) aren’t? The ones that are censored are even heard on local tv channels these days and are much less offensive than the uncensored ones IMO.

Depends how you use them ...
If I use them as ' His face is like a Sh--t' ... it is offensive...
If I use them as ' She is no less than a Bi--th' ... it is offensive ...
I guess censoring is one good thing at GS ... ita family forum, so it has to be clean and without any curse word ...
On the street people use so many words, but that does not give any justification at GS ...

Like Dada jee mentioned, this is a Family forum. In order to keep this forum clean, we have to keep our posts clean. There can be no exception for anyone. Infact, some people might find it offensive even if it is used in a good way. So in order to keep GS clean & in order to keep a friendly environment here, we have to avoid curse words because this is a Family forum and we want to keep it this way :)

on AD...gay is also censored, don't know why but ya GS is a family forum and sh!t and B!tch are not respectable/appropriate words anyway. As you said they are curse words and should be avoided.

i thought blogs were personal, and u could chose whoevever u want to view them....so if a person does use curse words, i highly doubt they have younger folks to their "dosts" lists......
i understand blocking curse words on the forums, but it shouldnt be applied for the blogs.

Sure! Blogs are personal but to give a free ticket for using foul language on allDost platform is not a decent idea either.
There should not be any curse words, offensive gestures, foul langauge or any sort of personality attacks on anyone. It won't be tolerated on allDost either.
It's Social networking. Keep it clean. Do not make it an Orkut.
Drop me a PM or email me at allDost if someone sees any thing of that sort, for now.
In future, we will come up with some clear cut policies and regulations.

why is damn blocked? why are we making the AD blogs so...restrictive? i mean...damn? gimme a break. as for the other swear words...dude...let us say it. it's our blog. we can say whatever we wish to say in it. it's like putting a restriction on our thougts...and the main reason we blog is to let out those thoughts so we don't go crazy. so...if i want to go into a swearing mode...i should be able to. if you have a problem...don't read that particular entry

Regarding allDost again,
I guess some words are blocked due to platform specific defaults...
I am sure Azkar or Gizzy can look into it more...
but as for other swearing words which are totally profane, should not be anywhere on allDost IMO... and that's just my opinion... it is still debatable issue and final call will be of Azkar, Gizzy etc....
PLUS when you curse, you are letting it out - the anger.. there are better ways to letting anger out.. drink a cup of cold water, do wudhu, if standing - sit down, if sitting already, lie down.. post some ayaah from QURAN or naration from hadeeth about anger...

and also, IMO all the clubs with profanity should be looked into as well on allDost.

some punjabi curses are blocked too, so when u use a normal english word, like, say, g*****ose…its blocked

Blocking/ Censoring should not be an issue. Every memeber must understand that this is a family forum and behave. There are million curses and we can not censor every single one of them. So be polite and start acting like a grown up.
