Curry Patta

So who knows about curry patta and its uses ?!? .. my ma uses them for tarka in daal wagera.. n it has such a heavenly smell.. not like tez patta kinda thing .. but its still awsome… any one uses it for sumthin other then tarka wagera!!!

I have seen it mentioned in some recipies, but cant remember wich ones, maybe achar ghost ? I only use it in pakoreh wali karri. Also in tarka.

Aleezay…aren’t curry patta n tez patta the same thing…???

i know the stuff, had a tree back home. ;) goes great in anything from omelettes to besan pakoras - especially the "mixtures".

no Afia.. curry patta is way smaller in size n they hav totally differnt smell.. Curry patta smells more indian …

Queer : we do have the tree in our front yard … :stuck_out_tongue: .. thing is … we do use it in pakoray n other tarkas.. but i was just wondering if this can be used in sumthin other then that .. like … mayb it can be used in sum curry wagera for taste? .. i guess no one else knows here :bummer:

south indians use it in most of their dishes - sambhar , rasam( if these terms are alien I can explain) lemon rices , Chutneys etc…they form a integral part of the south indian tadka.

curry pattaa

tayzz pataa are bay leaves..i use curry pataa mostly in dall aur in sabzi waghera...shadee sa pehlay i hate curry pata.laikin now i loveeeeeeeeeeeee curry pata:)

karipatta... apart from cooking, you can make a paste of it and apply it to your hair, nourishes the hair. i've heard that some people who apply mehndi to their hair also put in karipatta paste in the mixture.

as for cooking... i don't like it in karri, but it's good in fried stuff like dal vaday, etc. nice n crunchy.
