Current status of Pak team.

The losses are getting old and tiresome; as Osman Samiddin writes in his column, we don’t have a direction. We don’t have a team personality.

I long for the glory days of Wasim and Waqar; of Sohail and Anwar; of Javed and Inzi. Of Saqlain and the young Afridi.

I HATE losing; and the worse thing is it doesn’t look like its going to stop anytime soon. I don’t see us being dominant (as we once were) for a very long time. There is no superstar player on the radar. Shoaib is getting old; Gul is steady but not a match winner; Rao is mediocrity. Yousuf will retire in a few yrs; Younis is compliment cricketer; he chips in everynow and then with a great innings but not what you would call a Ponting or Tendulkir.

Guys like Fawad Alam, Anwar Ali Khan, Khalid Latif, are good future players but none are flat out match winners.

The current state of Pak team is worrying and depressing!

Re: Current status of Pak team.

Agree with you, but this is what happens when selection is not based on merit. Just like most other govt. run institutions in Pakistan, Cricket is also seeing the effects of such selection.
