Currency notes kay haar aur Choohaaray maarnaY kee Rasm

Those who have attended Shaadies in late 80’s and early 90’s can relate to it for sure…

I am not sure if they still do it, if they do, then, we have more people to put down their expriences…

So, have you ever “looted” choohaaraY in Nikaah ceremony? Like people used to throw away choohaaray after nikaah… Has any one ever hit by a choohaaraa :D?

On the same note, have you seen a dulha wearing noToN kaY haar? and have you ever steal Rs. 5, Rs. 10 or Rs. 100 from those haars ?

Share your memories !!!

You mean they are real…I thought it was play money…

I know chooharay are real…I got hit by one…

worse is when some one throws coins…:frowning:

bad Idea…

Human Flower Project :: The End of the Five-Rupee Garland
Celebrations in Pakistan usually—and gloriously—involve the giving of cash-flower garlands. At weddings, graduations, or retirement parties, the honorees receive splendid, spendable well-wishes, worn for the occasion and then, once the flowers wilt, spent or socked away.

In July, Pakistan did away with its low-note, five-rupees, worth about 8 U.S. pennies—too bad, because these provided garland material for most everyday Pakistanis. Hasan Mansoor, writing for the Daily Times, reports that, the coin for cash switch has already undermined this custom, and florists are complaining. “Now one has to pay at least 200 rupees to buy the cheapest garland containing ten-rupee notes. And many these days can’t afford to pay that much money,” said Karachi flower shop owner Baboo Gulfrosh. ““The number of people buying garlands stuffed with notes has greatly reduced since the government withdrew the five-rupee currency.”

Yup, I remember all the haars and decorating the car with flowers too.
I don't think they do the sehra bandhi rasam any more either.

One of my chichoray relatives made 1 dollars haars on Sehra bandi. :cb: It was early nineties I think. But I think Punjab mein ab bhi yeh rasam hoti hai

Re: Currency notes kay haar aur Choohaaray maarnaY kee Rasm

hit by a choohara :omg:

Hamaray haan to choharay BIDD ki form main diye jaatay hain choti choti thailiyon main band kar ke along with makhanay and toffees :yummy:

Well yes I saw it many times during my childhood.

My nana gave me this garland of currency notes on my roza khushai back in 1972.

What is chichorapun about it. It has been a tradition. I confess it looks pendopun now but back then it was a hot trend.

Mirch its not chichorapan if you are behaving like decent person,I know it was the trend at that time and all money garlands looked nice, but whats the point that you are bringing dollar haars just to show off that you are from USA.
