Curly Hair

ok so my hair is like reallllly curly…and i kinda like it because it’s one of those loose curls which bounce…and the other thing is they’re shiny too! :shoaby:

they aren’t veeeeeery loose, but they look nice…any tips on what i can do with it? i’ve tried mousse…like wash my hair then do a side parting and have a headband with half my hair in front of the band…and then i moussed it…but that’s about it

i also tried straightening my hair and then curling some bits…but it didn’t work :bummer: it just looked really weird.

Also some bits of my hair go frizzy, like not all of them fall into place and go curly…they’re just there :vivo:…and using mousse will just stiffin them :naraz:

any one else got hair like mine? and what do you do? :halo:

PS i have layers…and it’s thick…any natural ideas? without involving mousse/spray?

Re: Curly Hair

Hehe I've got similar hair to u, but My hair is very thick so when I get it cut I get long layers put in- this helps with the curls. If my layers grow out I find my hair dosnt maintain it's curl and just looks messy.

Okay so if u want you hair to be nice and curly the best thing to do is after u have a bath take sections of your hair (can apply mouse/ hair cream if u want- not necessary though) and just twirl the sections. Sections can be large or small. Do for all ur hair, even in back and everyday this looks nice.

I find that if i do this then the curl looks better and it doesnt frizz as much.
If u want to go out. speacial occasion when ur twirling the hair blowdry the piece from top to bottom and it also looks nice, spray with hair spray and should hold for ages- the hairdresser did this for me and I have to say it looked really good

Re: Curly Hair

yeah my hair’s really thick too!

ohh thanks :phati:

any other hair styles you got? :hmmm:

Re: Curly Hair

invest in some good anti-frizz product. it really works wonders :hayaa: and get some nice curl boosting spray. both of the stuff can be used after washing the hair, and then just let the air dry em.

get a nice haircut too that really flatters your curls. i’ve noticed that one lenght hair tends to get into this triangle shape…with the wide part at the bottom. so yeah layers would be nice.

Re: Curly Hair

i already have layers

but ehhhmm…i don’t like using hair spray :bummer:

actually wait…if it helps ur hair then i’ll use :cb:

Re: Curly Hair

Here's another tip:

When u've had a bath, combed and dried ur hair, try not to brush ur hair again with a comb- all the curls fall out and u end up with frizzy hair. Instead try to use your hands to comb ur hair

Another of my styles is:

If I really cant be bothered, right after my hairs dried I put it up in a bun (I dont use a comb to put it back I tend to use my hands to comb my hair) for a while and let ot out, u get nice wide curls around the botton of your hair, and there's no frizz. Then put it up in a pony and ur done

Re: Curly Hair

Frizz-ease is one of the best, afordable products out there for frizzy hair- try there brand. They have a really good curl boosting spray as well

Re: Curly Hair

no no it’s not hairspray. hair spray really makes your hair stuff. it’s actually curl boosting spray. it’s actually pretty cool. use that and like scrunch your hair.

invest in some really hot and pretty clips too..and like put your hair up sometimes. or like half up half down. stuff like that.

Re: Curly Hair

naturally dry would eb better right?

Re: Curly Hair

Yep naturally dry is always better if u want ur curly hair to keep the curl. Blowdrying curly hair just causes it to frizz

Re: Curly Hair

omg! anyone got any idea on how to like have penelope cruz’s hair effect? :hayaa:

damnnn, it’s like straight and curls at the end…if i try it, it’d just go really tight curled at the bottom…i want looose curls at the bottom though :bummer:

and if i use mousse at the bottom, it’ll just look weird as it’ll be stiff :vivo:

Re: Curly Hair

Hehe I know what u mean when I was younger there was an actress on tv who had stright hair and curls at the bottom. I always got frustrated that I couldnt have my hair like that but this is how they do it:

Straighter ur hair and use some gloss, section the hair and use rollers and keep hair in rollers( to speed up this process u can blowdry the hair whn in rollers) and take rollers out, set ur hair in the right position then voila ur done, I personally havent got rollers so havent tried this method- but my cousin has and hers worked

or the easier way (but u have to be experienced for this way) and this is the was my aunt tried on me is to buy GHD straightners and straighten the hair till u get to the bottom and curl at bottom- u have to be careful though and there are instructions on the GHD wesbite on how u can curl with their GHD straighteners. I have to say this way my hair looked great

Re: Curly Hair

coool! so ur in uk…where do i get gloss from? :frowning:

PS - im the thread opener so dnt worry lol :halo:

Re: Curly Hair

I used tony and guy gloss, it's available at boots, superdrug, etc

I cant remember the exact name of the gloss though I tend to just go to boots and go to the frizz ease section and stack up of frizz ease stuff andthen go to tony and guy for there hair cream. In fact tony and guy have a new product out for ppl with curly hair, it's called Tony & Guy Soft Curl Cream.

I havent tried it yet but will probably buy over weekend as am goin to boots then

Re: Curly Hair

cool! thanks…gta go down there after exams :bummer:

Re: Curly Hair

^ hehe I know what u mean. Currently my layers have grown out (I'm tring to disguise it by keeping my hair up) and I need a hair cut- so I'm waitin till after my exams!

Re: Curly Hair

^ omgg, same here! :rotfl: my layers…god! no1 can call them layer anymore :frowning:

so im waiting for the summer holidays and thinking of gettin a v-cut…and a proper side fringe

Re: Curly Hair

Nah I'm gonna get layers put in from my chin and tell her really cut into it (get loads of texture like that) and gonna take a bit off the length so it's just longer that my shoulders. Although I'm still debating on the side fringe

Recently I've been goin to tony and guy to get it cut and they do a great job

Re: Curly Hair

hmmmm…i’m settled for a side fringe now :bummer:

and my hair is loooong so like really deep cuts would look nice i think :hmmm:

i go to some gori :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Curly Hair

ohkkkkk so i tried it :phati:

it luks niiiiicee…i let my hair dry naturally and then got sectrions of my hair and twisted it…then put it in a bun…after an hour or so…it was proper curly and like bouncy too! :phati:…but i think it only works on curly.wavy hair :bummer:
