^ Not always though, Ghengis Khan simply conquered to feel better, he did not really have a plan of global domination as such he just raided and and raided hoping for sucess and sometimes he just got lucky. But never did he ever impose any ideals on others becuase he had none himself at first he learned more from the people he conquered than he could teach them which is why his empire was the largest ever and also one of the shortest lived.

Like you said, he never stayed in a place long enough to affect culture.
