Being Muslims we usually don’t celebrate other religious holidays like Christmas or Hanuka, but there should be nothing wrong in celebrating cultural holidays like Thanksgiving
I like to make turkey on this holiday and enjoy it
My question is do you celebrate them or not?
Re: Cultural holidays vs Religious holidays
Lot of them do here. Just have look at Home affairs and cooking section!
Re: Cultural holidays vs Religious holidays
Celebrating Thanksgiving is a bidaat , Muslims should avoid copying other nations. ![]()
Cooking and eating turkey is a bidaat too.
You can cook murghi instead.
Those Muslims who eat turkey they will be fed burning hot turkey on the day of judgment.
Re: Cultural holidays vs Religious holidays
I've celebrated Christmas a couple times with my aunts and cousins in the UK, although never in Pak of course :p
But my aunt and cousins do it every time. It's fun to celebrate!
Re: Cultural holidays vs Religious holidays

Re: Cultural holidays vs Religious holidays
Our little Pakistani group meets up every year for Thanksgiving and we have a dinner with halal turkey. I think this will be the last year though since Thanksgiving will fall in Muharram next year, and the people who host the party are Shia. So bye bye turkey, see you in 7, 8 years :(
Re: Cultural holidays vs Religious holidays
We usually celebrate em by visiting family. Thanksgiving dinner today:sadiyah:
Re: Cultural holidays vs Religious holidays
i don't celebrate religious or cultural holidays that have no specific cultural or religious meaning for me. just like i don't celebrate a stranger's birthday at home. simple as that. assimilation into the herd mentality? no, thanks.
