Re: Cultural differences between Urdu-speaking people and Punjabis
many differences...although i had many Punjabi friends at school and i spent lot of time with them...i would still feel the difference everytime they speak urdu with me or when we hung around...and i am talking about 100% lahories who lived Lahore for long time. For example, in the begining i would not understand their jokes and humour but later i got some sense of punjabi humour....its all good but i never find it funny even when i understand it.. .on the other hand i prefer Urdu language humour as i grew up with it. I am watching old drama Parosi nowadays....it seems like they are trying to copy off Tanhiyyaa...everything looks the same but half of actors are punjabi and i don't find it funny to watch as it is supposed to be a urdu comedy but all humour looks punjabi. Maybe i will...if i would watch it from a punjabi perspective. I guess there are lot of differences. Those people who were not brought up with strick urdu up bringing would not see a difference.
