crying baby

Hello How r u all?

my baby is 25 days old and he cries mostly and after feed he sleeps for sometime then again cry. How to soothe a crying baby?
How long should I breastfeed him so he can sleep well?
I’m having pain while breastfeeding and after how to cope up this problem?
I’m giving top feed in night is this ok?

Re: crying baby

Is your baby colic? Please avoid gassy food yourself.
If his temperature is normal (97 to 99F), no physical bump on his body, he is taking bf after every two hrs. He is okay. You don't need to worry.

In hospitals, they give top feed since day one, if parents sign consent letter therefore I don't see this an issue. Yes, you can give him top feed in night.

Re: crying baby

What is top feed?

Re: crying baby

Top feed is formula

Re: crying baby

Welcome to motherhood. Yes, babies do that, they do wake up to eat through the night. I tried formula ( top feed) too but it didn't help my baby to sleep longer even though he was older than 6 weeks. Anyways, try gas drops for infants. They do work wonders and make sure you burp your baby after every feed, especially after the formula. While giving the formula make sure the bottle is not propped on something and make sure baby is not sucking on empty air after the milk is finished as that will create gas.

Re: crying baby

Babies that age need feeding every two or three hours. Burp properly after every feed. If baby is still crying check that they aren't too hot or too cold. Best way to check baby body temperature is by feeling their tummy or back area. Nappy should be changed before every feed usually. If baby has a full wet nappy they will be uncomfortable and cry. If baby is not hungry or sleepy or hot or cold or has been burped or has a dirty nappy then it might be they just want you to hold them. Babies need a lot of comfort in the early days. Might just be missing you.
As for pain during and after breastfeeding sometimes it can take a while to get used to breastfeeding. But if the pain is severe and your breasts are inflamed, red and hot to touch then you should get it checked out by a midwife or doctor. Pain can also be caused if baby is not latched on properly. Look up some YouTube videos on how to attach a baby to breast properly and if there is someone who can help you that would be even better. Ask your midwife or nurse or if your mum or grandmother breastfed ask them. They might be able to help. You should breastfeed your baby with both sides, when baby is full they will stop feeding themselves.
