Crushed Sauce or Fresh?

Alright i been doing a lot of cooking lately. Since mom is not here cant ask her questions.
Why on earth one uses Crushed tomato Sauce when you can put the fresh one in salan etc?

isnt that thing too sweet?

I have seen several aunties and several restuarants using it so i know my family isnt alien :~)

Its not sweet, its just quicker. Some people find it time consuming to cut fresh tomatoes. I usually put fresh tomatoes, only time i use the canned ones is when I'm whipping up a quick dish.

fresh all the way :k:

My mom only uses it for the color, sometimes the appearance of the salan looks pheeka, so she uses it to make it look rich and thick.

i once tried that tomato paste, and i dont know it just ruined my whole effort :frowning: and i had to redo the whole thing :teary1:

It all depends on what salan is being cooked.. hehe. My ammi uses Plum Tomatoes fully ripened, these are available canned and fresh. I think Tomato paste is more concentrated and is ideal to use if your are pressed for time.

I ahve used paste and sauce and they are more concentrated. With fresh tomatoes especially if you dont cook often you have to buy your supplies regularly and they have to be ripe and ready for you to get the full flavor at time of cookingl.

Also fresh takes quite a while to cook. generally what i do is mix the two if I have them on hand otherwise it tends to be canned stuff.

interesting replies thanks all :~)

we use always the fresh ones...

taaze ki baat oor hooti ahye.
why they use the otherones??
its quiker, and less kaam...... :)

Forget wrestling with the can-opener to get to the squishy crushed tomatoes. Just use ketchup. (The staler, the thicker...the better) ;)
