Re: Cruising
Not exactly cruise trips but I had two such opportunities. First one was in Pacific and the second one was in Atlantic, both aboard an oil rig being towed by tug boats. These trip involved 6a.m to 6p.m working (though in relax mode) and i spent all my time in counting down to reach at destinations. First one was for three weeks and the second one was for two weeks.
Did have opportunities to go on cruise trips a couple of times but didnt favour that idea for three main reasons.
1) I dont drink
2) I prefer halal food
3) Banda thoda desi hu
So if you are worried about the first two in particular, better dont make plans but cruise trip is a perfect idea for a honey moon in opinion.
If you have some specific questions, i can help you getting answers from a friend who is coming back from a cruise trip wednesday next week. He started somewhere in CA and is cruising all the way to Alaska.
Re: Cruising
we don't drink but we are okay with seafood
we are also a bit desi but that has never stopped us from enjoying various activities that are know are available on board and at the ports of call.
I don't have specific questions but am keenly interested in personal experiences and tips/tricks from those that have been there.....
Re: Cruising
forgot to mention something in my last post. There are some cruises where they sail not far from the coast and stop in coastal cities almost on daily basis. That is definitely more a fun and excitement compared to going on a long cruise between two far off coasts.
Re: Cruising
I got an email from these guys a while ago just wanted to let you know about this option. It is Muslim Cruise and seems to be by some legit party not a scam. Please do your own research

^ I did too but apparently it's a scam!
I opened a thread on Salam cruise a few weeks ago!

Re: Cruising
We went to a cruise to the Bhamas last year in the winter on a Royal Carribean Cruise. We eat zabiha , vegetarian and seafood but despite those limitations there was enough choices for us. There was even a "desi cook on board", we didn't eat the chicken , but the dal was very good. The food was very good and the ship has a lot of activites for our picky kids. The only thing was that I was sea sick. I had brought over the counter motion sickness medicine and that helped a lot. Get the non drowsy Dramomine for yourself and you can use the other kind for kids (the non drowsy can be used on older kids only). The cruise was quite fun. We would love to go again. Tips: Take a 2 day cruise to "test the waters first" to see if you like it".
Re: Cruising
**yep...i took the 36-hr boat sailing from North Sydney in Nova Scotia to Placentia Bay in Newfoundland, Canada. It was my first experience on the ocean. i thoroughly enjoyed. there was a little casino onboard and my friends played all night out and won! unbelievable!!! we watched whales and icebergs floating bye. we made a stop in St. Pierre, Miquelon...a group of small islands owned by France. It was quite an experience. we got taste of France in North America :)
i loved my breakfast early in the morning sitting on a table by huge windows overlooking unending span ofr water with seagulls flying around as if they were trying to snatch our breakfast. :) it was a great trip and i still treasure the memories. :)**
Re: Cruising
wow....so many great experiences!!!
we are told that the best "affordable" cruise line is Celebrity......then Royal Caribbean, then Princess and then Carnival.
research is on-going.
the vast majority of us in the group will have issues due to our zabiha restrictions but I'm sure that seafood and other vegetarian options will suffice.
keep the reviews coming!!!!
and if anyone is keen to join us, let me know.
