**Contact lost with cruise ship with 1,300 people in Red Sea
Egyptian and Saudi Arabian maritime authorities said they lost contact Friday with a cruise ship carrying 1,300 people, mostly Egyptians, in the Red Sea near the Saudi coast.**
The Egyptian ship, called Al-Salam 98, departed from the Saudi port of Duba and was due to reach Egypt’s port of Safaga at 2:30 am local time (0030 GMT), a security source said.
However, officials lost radar contact with the ship, and air and maritime rescue teams have been mobilized.
The boat was carrying 1,300 people and more than 40 vehicles.
